I just called Sound Dimension. Medyo mataas ang bigay. P4.8k cart lang. Pag kasama Technics headshell 6k+. Kung wala akong makitang price na malapit sa Amazon prices baka doon na lang ako kumuha.

May nagsabi rin sa akin na all headshells are the same. Is it true? I mean, an American DJ Technics copy is the same quality as an original Technics since pareho lang daw ang gumagawa.

Did you try asking for a discounted price? Usually SRP binibigay na prices ng mga store. Usually may discount pa yan. Don't know lang if it applies with Sound Dimension.

I will go there personally sa Friday to talk to the dude. Baka nga pag tawag lang eh ganun ang price to discourage canvassers (which I am :D ).

Hi Sir Nicadraus,

I have a Technics SL-3300 na nalubog sa baha, ask ko lang kung may pag asa pa ba or if worth it pa ba ipa-restore (baka kasi yung price ng pagpa-parestore eh pambili na ng bago or mas maganda na 2nd hand).
Thanks!

Problem is, wala na new parts for other Technics models aside from SL1200/1210 only. For it to be able to get parts for that, salvaging parts from another same unit is the only way. So sayang lang gagastusin mo sir. Mas ok kung makahanap ka ng 2nd hand unit ng SL1200/1210. Then if kailangan ng restoration, let me know. :)

Arrgghh. Am having a hard time looking for these:

1. M447 E cart bnew
2. AT 95 E cart bnew
3. Technics headshell

Try to contact rspeed. He is selling a brand new AT95E for P2800.

Try also to contact edcap99 and inquire. He sold the AT95B, the black version of the AT95E, at P2800. He may still have some stocks left.

Thanks sir for the recommendations. For the pre-amp hmmm i think medyo out of budget pa sakin yung ganyan. what do you recommend na mura lang? the cheapest value for money. :) I just want it to be able to connect to my receiver and have a decent sound at least then maybe upgrade the amp later on.

Mga guru..patulong naman..i don't have any background on turntables nor am i an audiophile. But i am looking for an entry level that is dirt cheap but is of good quality. I will be buying it for my mother. Right now am eyeing for the Audio Technica AT-LP60 Fully Automatic Belt Driven Turntable. Ok ba to? And btw, wala kaming avr/speakers so for the mean time plano lang muna ikabit sa stereo speakers using aux. Thanks po.

You can't plug the turntable into auxiliary unless you use a phono-to-line converter. Distorted and magiging tunog nyan pag sa line/aux kinabit. Must be a phono input.

Sa Audio Technica AT-LP60 pwede phono/aux..that's why am eyeing on it..it has good reviews for an entry level and is dirt cheap. Since I don't have any background knowledge on turntables I asked it here since a lot of PDVD members are into turntables so it might be possible for you guys to enlighten me.

The sound being picked up by the stylus(needle) is so weak that a preamp (aux or line inputs) will not be able to amplify it.  A phono preamp is needed to pre-amplify the signal/sound before it enters the preamp (aux or line inputs).  This is basic.

The Audio Technica AT-LP60 has a switchable phono preamp where you connect directly to the preamp inputs or to an external phono preamp.

@joeyGS

so by that, do you think it's a good entry level turntable? I am sorry but I am having a hard time understanding some of the technical terms.

Sir is this the AT table you are targeting?
http://thedigitalmediazone.com/2010/12/16/audio-technica-at-lp60-turntable-review/

Sir your target TTable has switchable preamp built in, meaning you can turn it on so direct rca/audio out to your receiver/amp is sufficient. If you decide to buy a separate phono preamp then you can turn off the built in preamp and use a separate preamp. I hope am correct on this read..

As long as you wont be so critical on the sound output, that is a good start to play records.

How much is one? Let's see its value performance.

Yes its good for its price considering convenience, no need for a phono preamp and ready to play records with your existing system. Its also good to test the waters if vinyl is for you.

Actually I was skeptical at first but having no experience on TTs so I think this is a good start (baseline). And I will be giving it to my mother so that she can play her collections. She's just an average jane and no audiophile (that goes same for me) that's why I am considering this.

By the way, can you guys suggest local stores that sell TTs (from entry to hi end). Thank you!

good day TT community,

please help a newbie.

im really not sure how to fix my problem. from the photo below, do i need to replace the the whole
cartridge eventhough its only the stylus that is being damaged? this will be used with SL12MK2. I want to minimize the cost as much as possible but i want it in good running condition before i let it go. moreover, please refer a shop where i can buy affordable stylus/cartridge at the same time test it with the said turntable to make sure everything is running.

TIA gurus
