thanks for the clarification.

Di pa yata "serious" :) It's something I've been meaning to buy the past few years, just to try it, but I've never gotten  around to doing so. So I just want to see if vinyl is for me, or if pang CD/digital talaga ako :)

I'll think it over first, if i should just buy an entry level Pro-Ject or Rega, or scour the MP for the 1200 or other cheaper turntables, since my object is just to try this out. (though this is going to be a bit of an expensive try out, since I'll have to get at the very least, a phono stage, and likely, a stereo amp hahaha).

sir ito po magandang TT's... >:D ^-^

Hello, newbie here. I'm looking for a vinyl record player. Preferable around 2k more or less? Would any of you know a place that sells? I know someone who managed to snag a 2nd hand vinyl record player from Japan at around 2.5k and she only had to replace the needle and buy an amp.

I don't have any experience with this and I'd really appreciate the help of experts such as you guys. Thanks! :)

just in case mam, you are going to dip into it for sure.....use an mc cart, it myt be 3x pricier than a reg mm cart but the difference is justified. given a stereo int amp, mm/mc phono stage, and a decent TT with an mc cart....it will slam your current audio/video receiver & cdp combo to the ground. not kidding:)

For a begginers turntable, mas ok ba Rp1 + Cambridge Phono pre, then eventualy upgrade to elys 2 cart..

Or deretso na sa Rp3 + Cambridge Phono pre.

Contemplating on turning to the dark side, cd generation na kasi ako, I wanna try lang pure analog :)

Thanks

If you're really serious into analog, then RP3. If trying pa lang, RP1 is a good choice. Do you have the Cambridge phono pre already?

No sir, pero yung ganung price range lang, I think 6500 ata yun, Rega I think ganun din, but TROD's suggestion was the cambridge.

^looking into going that route din :)! Repa RP1 or RP3 + Rega phono amp. Then if I find that I like vinyl, buy a stereo amp + amp switcher (kasi wala akong planong bumili ng speakers just for audio).

Questions though:

1. Don't the turntables already come with a cart - whether MM or MC? So bale, I immediately replace whatever comes with the turntable?
2. Also, may violent objections ba kayo sa automatic turntables? I was reading up in some websites and noted that some folks prefer manual and couldn't hide their disdain for automatic variants. Hahaha.
3. Between a Technics 1200 or the Rega RP1 or entry level Pro Ject, mas maganda ba yung 1200? Just a preference :)

1.kalimitan po walang kasamang cart yung mga bnew TT.  btw there are 2 types of mc cart, the HOMC and LOMC. yung high output walang problema sa phono stage kse the loading can be the same of an MM cart na 47ohm, but generally if youll be getting a decent mm/mc phono stage, may cart loading na yun for low output. just a flick of a switch and its good to go.

3. kung rp1 lang at project mam, 1200 na ako. lyt platter kse yung project at pr1. but if itis rp3....ill get the rp3. the thing that i like with direct drive tt like the 1200, eh reduce ang wow and flutter unlike sa mga belt drive tt.

pero ako po ang preference ko ay dampened idler drive TT on a heavy DIY plinth with proper isolation to reduce yung rumble...... :)

Sabi ni AJ Van Den Hul mas maganda daw yun silk string as a replacement of rubber belt  :D ;)

Emperor Dodie really is the King of Analog!

Agree w/ Dodie re: Wow and Flutter...so best bet is Idler TTs...The TT being sold by muypogi (Pioneer) is already a good one! Pair it w/ a Denon DL-103 that's a sub-P25,000 system...Cheaper than an RP-3

tama boss dodie  ;D ;D,

One of the FAQ :  Is there a difference in sound between low output and high output mc cart? In principle no but in all day life yes  :) ;) ;)

(for example, Marantz PM 6005, Rega Brio R, Rega Fono). What if you want to use MC? Do you buy a phono preamp which is both MM and MC?

Depends on your need. Some people just have amps w/ MM phono input and then they use SUT (step up transformer) for MC.
