So I thought the only problem of my Rega RP3 was a dirty needle. I cleaned the needle using the Magic Eraser and found that sound is only coming out of the left speaker. There is a barely discernible sound coming from the right speaker.

I tried to narrow down the culprit as follows:

1. Not a speaker problem because I played a CD and my Xiaomi Mi Box and sound came out the right speaker.

2. I interchanged the RCA cables and voila - the problem is now the left speaker and the right one sounds okay.

Is the needle still dirty? Or is this a cartridge thing? Can this problem arise out of non-use? Hahaha. I have barely played my turntable because the needle got dirty, and just when I thought I had a solution, this other problem came up. And when I say barely, I mean it may be a year since I last played a record.
Marami cause. Could be the rca itself. Might be the tonearm wire. Also the cart.

A friend of mine got the same problem w/ his REGA RP3 & he thought maybe someone in the househelp clean the TT & hit the needle so he bought a new cartridge but results was still the same. In the end the culprit was the internal wiring of the tonearm. So better check carefully to find out whats causing the problem.

mukhang hindi amp, speakers kasi okay naman ibang source.
things to check:
1. interconnect coming from phonostage since inilipat lang from right to left sa amp input. baka sira isang channel. pinakamadali since ic lang.
2. phonostage. baka sira right channel. you can try a different phono stage.
3. cartridge. nangyari na sa akin ito buti mura lang shure m92e. naghanap pa ako new stylus pero yung cart na talaga may problema.
4. o kaya yung tonearm wiring nga.

try to reconnect the small wires in the headshell to your cartridge (baka may cold contact).
check also the headshell contacts (also the tonearm end contacts).

else, cartridge itself has  1 channel open coil, issue on tonearm wires, issue on tonearm wires going to rca connector (if separate rca wires are used)

Had it checked at Watts Hi Fi (where I purchased my RP3). Cartridge problem - they tried a different cartridge and no issues. Bummer. Didn't realize how expensive this things are. Makakabawas sa "new amp fund" ko. Haha.

Puwede na ba Rega Bias (which I think is a step down from what came with the RP3)? I remember before, when I was reading up on cartridges, reading about Nagaoka brand. What model do you suggest?

Kung nung pinagpalit mo yung RCA from left to right and lumipat ang issue sa kabilang channel, di kaya yung RCA ang problema?

I've tried the entry level nagaoka with my rega. Nasa 5k pero Japan ko kasi nakuha. Okay naman. Yun ang gamit ko for My sl1200

We checked using different cable, still no sound on one channel. They also used a tester (forgot what it's called), talagang nothing coming out of one end.

Considering I appeared to have damaged my current stylus unknowingly, I will refrain from buying the expensive models. Haha. 10k or less ang budget ko.

Ortofon 2M Blue and Shure M97xe come to mind. Best to hear it yourself.

Yup. That's the reason I got one sa Japan during a trip. Prefer it over the shure. Haven't heard Ortofon.

Update on my problem - after confirming that it's a busted cartridge, I was lucky enough that a friend was going to Tokyo. Nagpabili ako ng Nagaoka MP-110. Even there, there's a bit of a shortage. Cost is about 5,600 converted.

I asked the very nice folks at Watts Hi Fi to install the Nagaoka for me and voila, my RP3 is now working again :)

If it has no Anti-Skating & Counterweight adjustments then you could never do a trial & error test so best probable cause would be an internal mechanism problem, have it check if you cant DIY or get a new 1 (plenty of good price, well branded Vintage or Non Vintage TTs in the market nowadays) Goodluck Bro

Or try mo i download ang operation manual para ma check mo yung proper setting ng TT mo, search mo sa vinylengine.. then kung hindi talaga ma adjust, follow at_sunset_blvd suggestion. Good luck

I believe walang adjustment counterweight at anti skate itong model na ito same sa mga new model na crosley and other portable turntable na lumalabas na NP5 and NP6 cart, auto return ito after the last track. Yun arm nito may spring type sa ilalim. Tama si Sunset check yun mechanism sa loob or yun tonearm wire baka may sinasabitan or oscillating mechanism sa loob malagkit or dapat lagyan langis.
