here is a list of AV shops around metro manila, anyway, you could also visit the threads of AV distributors here in pdvd and ask about other brands like psb/aurum cantus/b&w/wharfedale etc..

http://pinoydvd.com/board/index.php?topic=1784.90

or look into preowned stuff at

http://pinoybazaar.forumotion.com/a-v-bazaar-f4/

open and read discussions on speakers/ampifiers and some other stuff to give you more info on this hobby.

Try the Q acoustics speakers , they have a somewhat similar characteristic w/ Missions.

I'm still using my 70i series from SGT hometheater. (m73i,m7c2,m7ds,m7c1(back)) ...
it's over 5 years old... do you guys think I need to upgrade when I finally get an Onkyo? (705 or 606).

Malaki na ba sound difference vs. the latest models? My configuration is all small... my sub is velo cht-12.
thanks in advance :D

bro, to be honest those speakers are still ok even if you upgrade your amp.

but if you want newer models then go ahead  ;D

cyber still has a complete set of mission volares... will cost you around 82k. (including back center)

i stopped visiting the ht shops to audition the newer models simula nung makumpleto ko yung setup  years ago.. natatakot mapa-upgrade... if i can remember correctly, this is the thread that made be buy mission speakers hehehe.

Onkyo 705 w/ pre outs is better recommended. & No, I dont think that upgrading speakers is necessary , maybe unless its 20 yrs old  ;D.

Upgrading by getting another same class speaker (entry level for example) is not exactly an upgrade, its a "sidegrade". You just get a different sonic character.

But if you easily have the extra cash, try upgrading to mid level speakers along with the mid level 705. Mid level speakers have better refinement (& higher cost) than their entry level counterparts, but need matching mid level gears for best results. You can also try power amping your setup.

All suggestions above are merely for "wants" but not "needs". So as long as you are happy with your current setup, no need to change it... and avoid listening to newer gears as it may cause sars.  ;D

This is what happened to me..  But then I'm much happier now with my present setup.. Hopefully, I won't get SARS again in the next 5 years..  ;) ;) ;)

actually my listening preference is more laid back so I upgraded my m73i to a v62... it works fine for me since I have not
been using my ht for awhile as I am stuck listening to my 2ch set-up

will upgrade to a volare center soon as I have to release my m7series so a fellow member (who got my m73i) can complete his set... as for the v61 for the rears... atsaka na. too expensive.

thats right, huwag gayahin. SARS is bad!  :D

(Para di OT) Like I said, as long as you are happy with your setup, stay with it & avoid SARS. Receiver upgrade (UPgrade not "sidegrade") with better power & decoders IMO is a good path. Speakers can stay with you for a long time.

bro.. I do think your M7x series speakers are still fine and can still compete with the present new speakers at the same price point..... I still have mine....all mission setup (6 speakers with velodyne sub) since late 2003..... I am still happy with my speakers......I've tried it with my friends receivers which is different from mine and I am just amazed how the sound it produce changes........ ;)  I have a pix of my setup at the HT gallery...although the pictures in there are bit outdated already...some additional gears are changed already but the speakers stays the same....

5speed & don,

i'm a proud owner of mission speakers myself.  our set-ups are similar (m72i, m7c2, m71i, m7c1i) plus velo cht-12r and i'm not planning to upgrade them.

imho, the weakest link in my set-up is my avr - a marantz sr4300.  am planning to buy a mid-level avr in the near future.  am quite confident that even if it will challenge the missions, the output will be better.  any suggestions?

many thanks for your replies in advance!

I think mid-level Marantz, Denon, or Onkyo will be no problem with our M72i.....I've heard the M72i hooked up with Onkyo 70x and Denon 280x series and even Cambridge 640R (or is it 540R?? :-\) and it sounds great.....the sound it produces differs with different AVR especially with Cambridge......It sounds fuller with high powered amp..

I've also heard a M71 hooked to a tube amp and sony cdp in one shop in here and it sounds very good to my untrained ear....I almost jumped into the tube bandwagon...... I also heard it with Nad Integrated Amp and Nad Cdp and the sound it produces was very good as well that's why I chose my Nad CDP coz I always remember how it sounded with my Missions.....actually for me it sounded better in a two channel amp dedicated for music rather than with the AVR......maybe it will sound better with Onkyo 8xx, Marantz 800x, or Denon 3xxx series....

I think audition is the key....bring your Missions and hook it up with any AVR you fancy... ;D

That's right. Mission belongs to IAG from China. Mission, however, is considered a better, higher-end speakers than Wharfedale.

Precisely. I sure hope quality is still the same despite the huge drop in its price. The MV-8 has a very tasty specs.

Thanks for the link Sir Vic. Ngayon ko lang napansin nandun na pala MV series. I'll drop by sometime ;)
