I took home the Mission MX1 speakers yesterday. But before I did, I auditioned a lot of PSB bookshelf speakers just to make sure I was making the right decision. I auditioned Alpha B1, Image B6 and even the Imagine B! What stood out was that the full bodied midrange of the MX1 could not be matched by any of the PSB speakers. The metallic tweeters of the PSB played higher compared to the silk-dome tweeters of the MX1 but the midrange performance was just too attractive for me to pass up!

I gave my PSB B4's to my dad matched with a DTA-1 T amp. He's pretty happy and amazed as well at the sound of the B4's.   ;D

Great review Sir Conan! It made me wanna audition those MX-1s. By the way, what amp and cdp are you planning to pair it with? Thanks.

My stereo amp is a Topping TP60 T amp (50 watts x 2) and for CD's I'm using an old Pioneer DV-270 DVD player. I plan to get a NAD CD player in the near future when funds allow it.  :)

I just had my dad listen to my new speakers with a song that he's familiar with, he said it sounds like a live performance!  ;D

I was able to borrow a Rotel RA-04 integrated amp, matched with the Mission MX1 the combination is stunning! The Rotel brings out so much detail from the MX1 without hurting your ears.

mx5 is ported at its back, I'm planning to put a wire mesh or screen to prevent mouse in entering, would this affect its sound?

I'm guessing that it will have less pronounced lows due to the restricted air flow on the port plus if you are planning to use a metal mesh/screen, there may be unwanted resonance. how about trying a speaker grill cloth instead? I think you can buy these at shell canvas.

maglagay ka na lang ng mouse trap sa paligid ng speakers  :P actually mas maganda ata yung wire mesh (yung medyo malaki ang butas) para matibay kaso di ko lang alam pano ilalagay without scratching the speakers, bago pa naman ;D

Guys, may deal sa Visions Electronics about Mission V 5.0 setup for only $499 plus tax.
Less $700 na daw yun sa original price, totoo ba?

And to add a sub sa series na un is only $199.

So basically, you'll have a Mission V 5.1 for roughly $700 = P29400 with tax.
Good deal na ba?

owner din ako dito ng MX4, tagal nya break in as in, sa una medyo dark yun signature nya, hindi ako nalalambingan, pero sa Low's hindi bintin, then after ng mga 40hrs, ayun medyo nagbabago na sya...
ang ganda na nya, magandang soundstage, malinis na separation at bilog na low's... ill try naman mx3 sabi kasi nila mas balanse sya...

^ it is better to trust your ears sir. Kasi kayo din gagamit niyan. Parehong warm sounding yung psb and mission, but for me nakukulangan ako sa hf extension ng mission. Yung digms naman leans toward the brighter side which isn't really my cup of tea. Well these are just my own opinion, and they may be different from yours. All 3 brands are carried by What Hifi, you can do a side by side comparison to be able to really know what you'd really like.

pakinggan mo ulit, pero hwag sabay, kagulo talaga kung sabay, he he he, joke.....balikan mo ulit sila, ask the seller for an AB test, yung tipong switch bigla from speaker A to speaker B...may ma differentiate ka naman siguro kapag ganun, kung alin ang mas type mo ang tunog, yun na....I'm an mx5 owner, and very happy with them driven by marantz...

Try to remove the cover guys, it'll look better. Medyo mahirap lang sya tanggalin but once nag snap out na yun isang part, you can easily pull them out na.  O0

Up for this, as I'm now considering the MX3 + matching center. For those who got the MX3 or MX4, what center speakers did you get - MXC1, MXC2 or MXC3?

p.s. I started this thread nearly 12 years ago, when I was first considering buying Missions. I ended up getting the M73  :D

^get the biggest of them all, hinayang nga ako e, when I got my center, di pa lumalabas yang mxc3, so I settled for the mxc2, yang center speaker kasi, para sa akin, is the workhorse among the speakers(except sub) in terms of movies,......para gusto ko ngang palitan yung center ko e into c3 >:D
