I don't think so, it's Number one at Amazon.com since it's release...Amazon probably just matching other discounters... or using it as a loss-leader, in the hope that buyer will come back and buy other  titles...

Often times, the biggest titles are not the most profitable, If at all.  Harry Potter books were also slashed 50% at launch, and free priority shipping pa.

All reviews are very positive (so far), unlike the Fox and The Hound 25th Anniversary Edition.

And the fact that R1 is limited, means collectibility sometime down the road, but probably too many copies in the market for another year or so...

Yes, I think Amazon.com is just trying to lure customers from the big DVD retailers, like Wal-Mart which usually sells DVDs at low prices on the first week of release.  I got "The Little Mermaid" at Wal-Mart for just $13.72.

It is being claimed that 4 million 'The Little Mermaid' PE had been sold since launch 10 days ago making it the bestselling October DVD animated feature ever.  1.3 Million was sold on launch day alone.

No surprise there. A lot of people consider this as Disney's Modern Age classic. At par with the studios most well-loved features.

Now to the DVD, I noticed some pixellation in the underwater scenes but still an improvement from the Limited Issue transfer. The features are the real catch here. Still enjoyed the movie...now waiting mode for the next PE. ;D

Just got hold of my copy today, delivered by Royale. Quite fast as it was shipped by Amazon last October 4.
