Hi Lance, HDM can do better than this, they have laser cut, wire cut, edm, CNC etch.

So were is HDM? I've read the recommendations re HDM but still no clue re where, who and how much it would cost to let HDM do a one off chassis

I can't comment about the price. Follow link below for more details and sample of work: Make sure you have the layout including dimensions for them to quote, if you can provide a CAD drawing thats an advantage.
