sir av! pano pong 10hz? nameasure po ba yun? tnx!

A spectograph can measure that.  Not at home.  The pod race contains 10 hz components according to some lab measurements in at least two net articles I read a few years back.  So if your sub can go down to 22hz as most serious subs do, others down to 18hz,  then the sub can really do its job as there'd be a lot of those low frequency signals the sub can work on.

......If you can get hold of those THX-certified DVD titles, there's always a THX segment there for audio and video test......
Thats what I always expect sa mga THX titles; but I was dissapointed by the "The Abyss" dvd R3 version kasi wala syang THX test menu although nakalagay sa packaging na "THX Certified".  Grabe talaga ibang R3, madaya!  Well, kasi baka dahil P299 lang sya...

The LFE sweep on the THX optimizer will require an SPL meter to check for flat frequency levels at your listening position as the frequencies traverse the crossover point between your main and sub from 200hz to 20hz.  Without it, you can just use your ears.  If there are peaks and suck-outs, then you can adjust the crossover points or use bass traps or use paramteric eq to attain the flattest response you can get

Yes, but it just arrived last night. I still havent watched it yet. My friend (who bought the DVDs for me) said that its the only movie in his opinion that beat "Top Gun" out of his personal No.1 "Jet fight movie" of all time.

I hope to watch it soon, sana lumabas na yung mga new model front PJs!!! GRRR!!! kakainip

Hong Kong and its DVD9, unlike our local dvd5 release.

I just watched Amytiville Horror last night, and sulit sa LFE talaga mga horror movies. It helps big time in giving you the creeps and scaring you with the suspense music & sudden bursts of sound.

The T-REX first apperance in Jurrasic Park contains real room shakers.  I only have the DD version.  The DTX version must be awesome.

Sorry for delayed response.  Saw this just now.

Yes, the aim is seamless crossing between the sub and main.  But the THX sweep can also identify peaks (in-phase reinforcements)  and suck-outs (out-of-phase cancellations) due to room modes unique to your room geometry.  Then you can correct for these abberations.

after reading dozens of Sir AV's posts on technical audio information, I have already established a great deal of respect for him. I just feel bad that I can't really understand 95% of what he says  :-\

sir av, if you'd think of holding an Audiophile 101 class for dummies, let me know ok?

cheers!  ;)

Thank you, Dunforgiven.  The things I say can always be verfied by a simple google search to check them out for more details.  In the case of room modes, that's the phrase you can google and there are many excellent explanations out there.

And no, while I'd like to, I believe the net is a great 101 course for virtually anything under the sun.  ;D  Thanks again.

After 1 year in the shelf, I finally pulled out GODZILLA last night and cranked the subs to higher than normal volume.

It felt like Godzilla was stomping in my room.

Can be both, if the avr's XO doesn't go low enough and you hear a peaking of bass signals slightly below the AVR's XO point.  Adjusting the sub to an XO lower than the AVR can help.

I just watched Polar Express the other day and the LFE for the train arrival scene was really good! It was rocking the room and my guests (lots of pamangkins) were really impressed!

Maganda nga sound ng train sa Polar Express. Una ko narinig sa HT ni Danrd, ganda din ng setup ng HT nya. Ganda include sa demo disk itong Polar Express.
