I see. I was thinking of the pot as a "source" too.

Follow up (not debating, just asking): If the 1/R3=1/R1+1/R2 applies w/ the pot and input impedance of the amp, how can a 300-ohm ouput from a source drive the resulting 8.33 or 5 ohm input impedance?

---------------

Sorry. 8.33K and 5K pala. Ok na. Thanks, DOHbert.

I was able to borrow a T amp from a pdvd member and used it with a tube pre amp.

Wow, ang galing nga nito! I was skeptical of its performance but it really awed me what this little thing can do. Ang linis ng tunog!

Only problem was, I tried to play movies with this and kulang sa Bass. SS power amp pa rin.

I plan to buy 2 for bi amping soon.  ;D. At least now I saved a lot instead of setting aside a bigger budget for a tube power amp.

sir matzter pag ht i use the subwoofer for LF bass duty ;D pero yung sonic impact t-amp power for  fronts speakers - WOW! (limitetd bass nga lang hindi as deep tight controlled as those by muscular ss power amps pero kung ok subs mo ayos na!...i wont trade the t-amp sound quality for AVR ) ;D ;D ;D

I was informed about this  but I called Daiichi and they dont have any stock left :'(. Pinapakyaw daw by the hundreds ng ibang dealers.  >:(

Quote
puede po kaya ito gamitin as power amp to be paired to my yamaha 750?

Pag power amp for music pwede, but for HT, kulang ang bass nya. I just tried it out last night with a borrowed T amp from a pdvd member.

Maganda nga, but I am using it for my bedroom setup only, so no AVR or Subs there and I only use the spare equipments (spare SS amp, spare bookshelf, IC, wires)  I had in storage. :D. Siguro my option for now is to switch to SS for movies, My SS amp plus bookshelf is good enough kasi for watching movies. Eh yung bedroom setup is for watching concerts and P**ted dvds lang naman.  ;D

Pero for vocals, ok na ok na ako sa kanya. Pag other music, sa main HT room na lang ako.

Galing, this T amp suits my needs, and most importantly, my budget too!

here's what I did to compensate my bass shy giant-killer.  My Sony CDP has fixed and variable line out.  I connected the variable out to my H/K integrated driving wharfe 8.2s and the fixed out to Tono Pre - TDS202 - T - Amp driving b&w 303s.  For vocal music, the latter can do justice but for other types of music my H/K-wharfe compensates for the needed ooommph.

Just me.  ;D

Thanks.

Naku, dont buy this t-amp. Not good. Namimili ng speakers at less than 15 watts lang. Ang sound eh mediocre lang.  Overhyped reviews.  ;)

Pag nakabili na ako, saka nalang kayo bumili! :) :)
Sana may limit ang dai-ichi sa pag bili, max of 2 units lang. hehe
Oweidah, please send PM about your t-amp experiment results.  thanks.

easy!!! 1x1...biamp muna....pag nabihisan na (re-boxed/new casing) tsaka subok ala "monoblocks".
eh ikaw, ano user review mo sa 1) t-amp / 12sn7 preamp combo... 2) t-amp / nad c320 as preamp combo....3) nad c320 main amp / 12sn7 preamp combo.... 4) biamped t-amp (hf) +nad c320 (lf) / 12sn7 preamp combo?... ;D

Pwede ba ang Bi amp by using T amp for HF and SS amp for LF? Has anyone tried this? TIA

sir matzter...split mo preamp signal using y-adaptor. one ic pair goes to the t-amp, the other goes to the ss amp. now connect the t-amp speaker terminals  to the HF of your biwireable speaker. connect the ss amp speaker terminals to the LF.... i think markmlists is trying this with his t-amp/nad c320 (main-in) and 12sn7tube preamp :)

sir dennispm, uy naka-tds202 ka na pala. review naman ng pair nya with tono tube pre. kasi sandaling pakikinig kagabi, biamped t-amp+tds+tube preamp eh parang mas ok pag naka-bypass (off) ang tds pero pag yamaha avr as preamp/processor ang gamit ko, sakto match with tds202. someone said na para daw "tube buffer" ang effect ng acoustic research tds202. honestly di ko alam kung ano ang tube buffer eh hindi naman ako "tubero". yung lang pansin ko ;D

Tried using CA Azur 540A to drive the LF on the Diamond 9.1 and the T-amp on the tweeters... didn't like the sound....dismantled  the setup after listening for 10 mins...and went back to the Azur pre/T-amp power amp setup....

thanks bumblebee. is there any other brands that is a common find in an elec shop? dunno if alps is sold in cebu. just checking my options though. i wanted to test a charlize once i get it. can i use a locally sold pot just to test the amp? i will contact silver strings and hopefully they will accept out of town sales.

sirs, pwede din ba i-tweak t-amp to get rid of the volume potentiometer? bale on/off power switch na lang. i'm using the t-amp as power amp, naka-set full-volume; and the volume control of the yammy avr functioning as preamp/processor drives the t-amp....

Sir, please observe polarity ha, lalo na dyan sa nakalawit na wiring. For the soft-start on, use a 3-step selector switch. DC in sa input ng selector, sa 2nd and 3rd position nandun yung 270ohm 1/2 watt resistor. Ok na yan. Btw, you'll be surprise how much an improvement this kit is over the SI. Malaking malaki diperensya. Walang laban nga raw sabi ni Eposman.  :D

yup, depende sa gain na gusto mo hehe ;D

just got two units of the t-amp so i can get my feet wet in tweaking these kinds of amps. I am powering the two with a 12v smps i got from alexan. sounds good on my newly made open baffle speakers. i am  playing vocals and lite jazz and the mids sound pretty good...will just do the stealth mod before i try out the charlize or amp6 8)
