Latest score at metacritic.com is a very respectable 70. Best in the lot of recently-shown Pinoy films. Better than a great number of Hollywood studio films.

Anyone seen Peter Nellhaus' review of this film?. Very nice, not to mention he includes it in his best of 2005 and Best of 2006. The guy seems really impressed with the film...

did not see any trailers on the nasaan si francis DVD. but, it will be released by unitel/unico accg. to the sales people over at mag.net.

Maximo failed to make the Top 9 contenders for the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar.

But it did get another nomination from the On-Line Film and Television Association Awards:

Bought the DVD from Kabayan Central. I think it deserves all the recognitions that it's getting.
Very well shot and excellently acted by the entire cast. A new gem in Philippine cinema.

Minor complaint: The dvd doesn't have English subtitles!

I think it's because it's the local version of the DVD. Unitel usually releases an international (with Eng sub) and local versions.

Browsing thru Amazon, I found out that this movie will be released in R1 by TLA on August 28 entitled "The Blossoming of Maximo Oliveros". The movie has really gone a long way not only in international screenings.

The theme "Isipin Mo Na Lang" by Bayang Barrios is one of the best rendered local ballad I've heard so far. Incorporated beautifully in the movie at the end. Simply heartrending. Sad, they didn't include the music video with the dvd release. :'(

watched DIE HARD in Grand Cathay here in Singapore last weekend and saw this film being shown here. wifey would like to watch and i said that we'll just get the dvd
