The Amazing Race 9
« on: Dec 15, 2005 at 06:57 PM »
Coming this February 2006: 5 continents, 60,000 miles, and 11 teams of 2--it's the return of the "regular" Amazing Race.

From the preview seen so far: a team of nerds, and a team of kikay girls?
Please, please, please--no more other reality show asswipes like Rob & Amber; let there be newer, unfamiliar asswipes this time.

lagi rin akong nanonood nito..meron na naman akong aabangan na favorite... sana dalas dalasan naman nila ang mga season nila o kaya gawing sabay ang season ng family at regular edition o kaya dalawang edition bawat season. very informative pa

The teams were just announced: http://www.cbs.com/primetime/amazing_race9

I'm guessing February 28, 10AM on Studio 23 for us?

Antok na ako nung nag-post.  ;D

From the bios alone, I'm guessing Lisa & Joni will be first eliminated.  ::)

Isang tulog na lang!  ;D

Anyone seen ads on Studio 23? The front page of their website says 10:00AM, but their schedule grid on the same website says 9:00AM. Although I'm guessing it's 10:00... has anyone seen actual plugs on the station to confirm?

is it just me or does anyone else think that it feels like i'm watching a movie with stereotypical characters ala THE RAT RACE? most TAR contestants this season are of stereotypical personalities: the frat boys, the hippies, the geeky couple, the barbie dolls, etc...  ;D

casting usually involves getting stereotypical people naman... no big surprise there... there's the parent-child team, the gay team, the best friends team, the "war of the roses" team, etc. etc.

that has always been the formula for most reality shows... if everyone was "boring" and "normal", there'd be no dynamic.  :P

no problem with the teams. but what i meant, though, was sobrang stereotypical ung characteristics ng bawat team (most of them anyway). parang hinugot sa isang pelikula.

No fave team yet but interesting teams would be the hippies (BJ & Tyler), the nerds, mother-daughter, and Lake & Michelle.

Lake reminds me of the Schroeder dad.

They really try to cast these shows looking for specific character types. The better you fit into the specific type, the bigger your chance of getting cast.

I like the mix of characters, but I still feel that extending the pilot episode to two hours makes it less exciting. But at least it NOT "Family Edition".  :)

The hippies, the nerds and the mother-daughter team are interesting to watch. I don't but I kinda dislike Team Mojo and the Frosties.

the geeky girl reminds me of someone from a movie or a tv program. i just can't put my finger on it- the glasses, the ponytail, the blue shirt, the eye twitching.  it's so surreal that i felt that the character was brought to life...  ::)

interesting mix of characters this time around:

- mother and daughter team are ok, but i don't like the mom, she seems like a hyperactive beyotch to me.  ;D

- lake and wife--i can't stand their accents, it's like they're TV sitcom characters or something.

- the nerds are ok, but i get annoyed (or cringe) everytime the girl asks for a kiss from the guy.

- barbie & ken, i don't like them.

- frosties, ok at first, but all that screeching towards the end irritated me.

- the hippies are great, they seem to be having the most fun than anyone, and they're funny too.

sayang the gay duo were eliminated--they could've provided some funny, snarky moments later on.

Tuned in at 10am and thought I missed it.

[spoilers]
Go, Team Hippies!

I'm ecstatic that the ones eliminated deserved it. They were long due since last week. Too bad this couldn't be The Apprentice that two teams could be sent home. Good riddance! No more annoying shriekers. They were complaining and whining throughout the race. If they're not, they're still grating.

Fran and Barry are also a team that's waiting to be sent home although I admire their perseverance.

I think yesterday's was the most boring episode ever...and it seemed the shortest episode as well. It looks like all they did was climb a fire escape, rappel down, then do the roadblock with the waterfall/sugar cane press.

At least there was hardly a bunching and the order of the teams were according to skill and competitiveness. I like the top 6 teams especially Wanda + Desiree!

It was a fun show this week. I just hated the bunching the airport, since it made the over three hour time difference of first to last place (as well as the three separate bus departure times to the airport) complete moot.

About 10 minutes before the end, I already sensed something was fishy, since no one had arrived at the pit stop yet. So the "surprise ending" didn't really catch me off guard.

Why is it that when the screen time is with Dave and Lori, the geek team, the music in the background sounds loony?

I'm enjoying Season 9 so far. I like the way Phil is mocking the fratboys, and they seem too dense to even notice!

Didn't you guys think the greeter guy at the pit stop looked exactly like the Travelocity Gnome the contestants were carrying?

I felt bad about which team was eliminated, though. They were one of my favorite teams this season. They were like Nancy & Emily Lite. Although when Desiree started crying during the Roadblock, you knew which parent she got that from!  ;D

I cannot believe that the prize for coming in First in this round highlighted "Duracell Batteries."  ;D

I think this is the first time the Yield actually got a team eliminated. I really don't understand why they chose to use the Yield on the team they knew was right behind them instead of the one that still hadn't arrived. That would've been a much safer option if they were just using the Yield as insurance that they wouldn't come in last.

After the past two eliminations... the Eye Candy is now down to one.

Lake & Michelle = dimwitted rednecks. They remind me of cartoon characters, I just can't exactly remember who.

Sayang, if they did this then Ray & Yolanda would've been eliminated. Those two are just meh, plus Yolanda looks like the bastard child of Michelle Rodriguez and Maria of Sesame Street.  ;D

I don't care what anybody says but I'm really enjoying this season. I think it's because I haven't seen the past 2 TAR seasons so parang I'm seeing it with fresh eyes. Go the geeks!
