Why did they have to bring in Maury and Springer? These shows are just bad tv! Who is the target audience of this new station? Why not just bring back Turner Classic movies?

i hope there'll be more shows like FRIENDS, Veronica Mars, Joan of Arcadia, etc... i learn to love some shows in ETC, especially SNL even though it's a delayed broadcast  ::)

or are they really planning to fill their time slots with talk shows  ???

And they have to keep promoting them every commercial break!

that's normal... they don't have that many advertisers yet... i'm fairly sure we'll have to suffer through repeated station IDs and promos for shows until they get some advertisers.  :P

The program lineup of ETC 2nd Avenue is more of talk shows, news magazine programs, and reality shows. It's quite different from the ETC line up.

Why did they have to bring in Maury and Springer? These shows are just bad tv! Who is the target audience of this new station? Why not just bring back Turner Classic movies?

Maury and Jerry seem to know exactly what kind of shows they're doing, which is what makes them fun to watch. White trash is funny! The shows are so bad they're good.

And unlike HBO/Star World/ETC programming, these are definitely shows you won't be seeing on DVD in the near future, so seeing them on air is your only option for this kind of "entertainment." It's a totally alternative channel instead of yet another movie/conventional series/sports/nature channel.

I'd say I'm most definitely in the target demographic of this channel.  ;D

Speaking of Turner Classic Movies, Destiny Cable subscribers have it back - on Channel 86.

Most of etc's NBC news shows like NBC Nightly News, Dateline, and Today will be moving to etc 2nd Avenue, along with some reality shows like Starting Over. Ed is also slated to move here.

Some new reality shows they have are The Biggest Loser (weight loss), Cold Turkey (no smoking), Trading Spouses (wife swapping), and Showbiz Moms & Dads (stage parents).

They also have new showbiz-oriented shows like Hollywood One on One, Inside the Actor's Studio, and The Directors.

I saw Jerry Springer show for the first time and I was apalled that those women were exposing their teats in exchange for some lousy beads.

The only thing that bothers me at every commercial break is repeatedly hearing the word "Intimacy" mispronounced.  ;D

Oh, shut up!  ;D

It was bad enough when he was just a recurring guest on Oprah. Now I have to put up with "Oh, you're Dr. Phil!" even more.

(practicing my fake "you're so witty" smile)  ::)

Maury has got to be the funniest show of all time! I can't believe girls can come in for their 9th DNA test to try to determine the paternity of their child and insist they're not hos, then when proven otherwise, always run down that long tiny hall and collapse into that little corner, hysterically crying "I'm not a bad person! WAAAAH!!!"  ;D

Is 2nd Avenue broadcasting torrent downloaded files? A friend was watching Modern Family at 6pm-7pm earlier and noticed a "Citytv" station ID on the lower right corner and a foreign voiceover announcing a show that wasn't the next show...

Yes way:

On the lower left it says the standard "PG: Parental Guidance/Patnubay at Gabay" and on the right is the Citytv station ID. I know, it's a legit station in Canada but... a lot of us are familiar with that logo, yeh?  ::) why would it appear on a local broadcast of 2nd Avenue?  ::)
