i did a side-by-side comparison of the specs of the bravia & philips (26-inchers). it seems that there are minor differences between their features. bravia has a PIP feature, philips has picture-in-graphics (?). philips has an equalizer, the bravia doesnt but its got a higher audio output at 10W x2. their connectivity seems the same also. however the price of the philips lcd is a tad cheaper than the sony & it comes with a free dvd too!

ive also read in one of the reviews that the lcd screen of sony is manufactured by samsung. getting a samsung instead of a sony is better value for money since both lcd screens are the same anyway, and samsung's price is much lesser than sony's.

any philips lcd tv owners out there? how satisfied are with your tv? :)

thanks.

Didn't get the model but the Bravia 28" LCD being demoed at Sony Center at the Park Square at slightly over 100T was most impressive.   Now I can see why those flat panels are really meant for close viewing in a small room.  You can watch at 2feet away and will not get strained or distracted by scanning lines or refresh rates.  Just rich pictures like watching a great photograph

I read in the newspaper this morning that they will recall  the Sony Bravia LCD for a software update. The old software is defective that after sometime you cant turn off or on the TV.

Both V-series & S-series have identical resolution, size, weight & features except in some areas where the V-series have better advantages in the following:

-Using the advance wide color gamut (CCFL) feature
-Has better brightness & contrast than the S-series
-Has HDMI & USB input

The above are the main differences that I notice so far.

As for the problem pointed out by levi which was discussed earlier, luckily SONY would kindly send their technical support team to your house to fix/upgrade the problem. It also affects RPTV 3LCD such as mine. I'm glad they had visited & completed the software upgrade on my set.  ;)

So the V-series with HDMI is a better future-proof investment.

You're right Dracula. The S series in the USA has HDMI.

Yeah it's very frustrating sometimes to see our local shops carrying the same series but unfortunately, the model design is less inferior than those in the USA.  >:(

Another fine example on the first 3LCD Projection TV where intially offered in the Philippines had no HDMI but months later the newer model with HDMI arrived...geez..imagine the sentiments of all those poor consumers who had just bought their sets  :-[
