If winning on a bid is considered BOUGHT. Then my movies would be Jerry Maguire and In the Line of Fire. Kasi, I won the the bid for RCA dvd player with the said movies Sept. '97.

"Enemy of the State". I liked the non-stop action in this movie. Definitely worth collecting..  ;D

I bought Jurassic Park (DTS)first  before I bought the Sharp DVD player I was yakking about.  At first, I thought the player was busted coz I chose DTS and no sound came out of the demo TV.  The salesperson in Western didn't know that it needs a decoder to play DTS (familiar ba?) and medyo nagmarunong at linagay sa DD  kaya nagkasound.  Then I had to buy an R1 Dune just to know if the player is multiregion.  That was when I bought the player, it had a free Devil's Advocate R3 DVD then the rest is history... :D
BTW, I don't have a Matrix DVD. :-/

:) I really don't know if I should do this. But this is too inviting to resist. And before anything else, I have no intention to show-off or mang-inggit or whatever. Just sharing my thoughts. Well, the first dvd that I bought was the Commemorative Issue of JOSE RIZAL (yes, the Cesar Montano starrer). I saw it in one of my "sojourns" in Quiapo. It was P400 (!) and sealed. I believe it is Original because the paper inlay and outlay is glossy with fine not blurry prints and the dvd has a MENU, complete with the Making of Rizal and Subtitles. Most of all, the picture quality is not so-so na rin. Not perfectly perfect but still dvd quality.

And one thing more, I bought it at the time I had no dvd player yet. Told myself that since I was going to get one in the future, might as well start collecting dvds. And what better way to start your collection than to buy something patriotic and nationalistic in character. And it happened to be Rizal.

The first dvd we got was 'My Best Friend's Wedding' (r3) as a freebie when we bought our dvd player.

I know, it's not exactly the dvd to 'burn-in' one's player, but the missus chose that over an r3 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon' (sayang, this copy still had the english dub, unlike the new r3 releases).

The first dvd I bought was ... 'The Matrix" (r1). [That makes me number 21. :D] I bought the r1 version to test the multi-region conversion done on my player.

The very first DVD I got was a gift: Star Trek The Original Series - Man Trap / Naked Time.

Now, the very first DVD I bought was Deep Blue Sea. Didn't know any better. :) The sales rep who sold me my DVD player said that he had a lot of extra stock that weren't bought. Deep Blue Sea Region 3 was one of them - at the lowly price of P600.

The Matrix *was* on my list. But fortunately a cousin from the US sent me that as a gift - along with The X-Men.  ;D

gladiator. isnt this the reason why we all have dvd players?

hmm, I think that would depend on when you bought your player.  :)

If quite some time ago, the "reason" would probably be: "Air Force 1" (I remember this being used a lot for demos by some stores).

Then more recently, "The Matrix."

Then even more recently (and currently, I think): "Gladiator"

My first DVD is Matrix. My GF gave it to me as a Bday present and as an incentive to buy a DVD player (actually, her DVD player!). After eventually buying the player, I bought Saving Private Ryan.

My first DVD is "The Saint" back in '98.  Chose this over others for the numerous features.  My wife & I bought it at OMI in Greenhills at the time it wasn't still a haven for DVD bargains.  I remember buying the disc at P1000+.

I actually had the player for over a month before I bought my first DVD. I was using the player (Pioneer DVL-9) for my laserdiscs, since my old player conked out.

My first purchase was from Cardinal Audio in Virra Mall:

AUSTIN POWERS: INTERNATIONAL MAN OF MYSTERY

Yeah, baby!  ;D

Witches and Exorcist (R3) from one of those HT Stores at Shangri-la Mall in December 1999.

A week later, I bought Lethal Weapon 4 from Astro ATC. Have been buying there since...

and that's how it began for me - the perennial hole in my pocket  :'( .

The Corrs: Live At Landsowne Road

I bought it at Hongkong.  I remember eyeing Friends box sets (forget which seasons) and The X-Files (Seasons 3 & 4) back then (actually it was just Feb. 10 of 2001 :)).

Hi Benny!

The first DVD I bought was Message in a Bottle  :-[ at Astrovision Galleria, around december 1998 for around PHP1,100 if I remember right.

My wife really loved the movie and since we had just gotten our player, I wanted to give her the best one available. I even remember the night we were going to watch it, our player spitted the disc out because it was a region 3 (I had no idea at the time that our player read only region 1 discs).  So, I had to return it the following day and exchange it;  people in Astrovision were nice enough though to replace it.  Too bad Astrovision doesn't sell R1 discs anymore.

Believe me...if I had my way, I would've gotten another title...heheh!  ;D
