My first DVDs were "A Bug's Life" and "Mulan" which I actually bought before I had a DVD player. I have a collection of all the Disney animation classics on laserdisc and with the Disney marketing "available for limited time only" I had to get it before they pull it out of the market.

::)Got my first two discs (Terminator & Batman Forever) way back early 1997 as a "pasalubong" from my wife who travelled to the US at that time. It was until mid 2000 when I got my player Pioneer DVK 101 as a 'pasalubong as well from her from PI. During that period,these things were unavailable and not quite heard of here in Saudi. Now the market starts getting flooded! Fellow OCYs, starts your engine....

Batman Forever came to theaters in 1995

the dvd format only surfaced in 1997, so i doubt if there were any available dvd disk back in 1992.

not unless it was pirated copy... :D

Not only did our buddy rocalvo get a five-year head start on the DVD format, he was lucky enough to get an advance copy of Batman Forever three years before it was filmed!  Maybe he's good buddies with director Joel Schumacher.  ;)

Not only that, I remember in 1992, I felt I was one of the very few who bought the Special Edition LaserDisc of T2:Judgement Day (4 LD-set in the Silver box)

Only to find out now that somewhere, sometime that same year, rocalvo already had the first Terminator movie in a new format called DVD.

 Oh oh! there goes my stiff ring finger again fellas! The year should read 1997. Likewise, I got mixed up also with the year my player was given to me. That was given three years later. Looks like everyone is doing their homework. Well, I would say you are all great film critic! My apologies. :-[

Sorry about the double post, When i bougth my DVD-Rom player
the first dvd movie that i wanted to see is The Matrix. I went to Greenhills just to buy a pirated one at P/500.00 and to my dismay my DVD-rom can't play it. Fortunately i had a friend who has a original copy and persuade him
to sell me his copy for another P/500.00 provided i gave him the copy of the pirated one. Who do you think got the
better end of the deal?

Went to this thread to look for my first DVD Title to buy. Just bought my DVD-ROM Drive connected to my TV and HT (Just accepted that LD is dead >:(). I'm still not sure what to buy first. Considering Bee Gees but wala pa dito sa Astrovision sa Robinson's Place Bacolod.

Gladiator was my first DVD (R3) and I got it National Bookstore. I was so excited to buy this DVD and didn't know that the R1 is better.  Anyway, I still love the movie and dirty looking Russell Crowe!!!  :-*
