Is there anyone here who claimed a package from Araneta Center P.O. today?  I heard in the news that there was a fire last night or early this morning I think.  No word on the damage though.

Oh NO!

There go my "Endless Love" and "Caroline in the City" DVDs!

That's what I get for ordering "Caroline in the City."  ;D I wonder if Amazon UK will replace fire damaged items?

Sana naman hindi na-damage...  :-\

Mr. Hankey, I'm also hoping the same thing.  I have a package from yesasia that's my Christmas gift to my sister and I just received the notice when I got home this afternoon.  I'm not sure who's more worried, me because I don't want to see a $50 purchase go up in smoke or my sister who's been waiting for this since December.

Just came back from Araneta QC PO. My shipment from amazon uk was damaged in the fire, among many other packages. I got the notice, dated Jan.18, on Jan.20. The only packages saved from the fire were those already assessed by customs...meaning those with value in excess of $50.

The good news -- note that this is theoretical at this point -- is that amazon shipments are insured. All we need to do is get a confirmation letter from the PO (transferred to the office near NIA near East Ave.), then send that to amazon, so they can ship a replacement. But they don't advise we go there this week as they're still sorting things out.

Oh wow, thanks for the update.

My order was shipped on January 9th. Based on the average time my orders take, it's probably among those damaged, but I haven't received a postal notice yet. I'm hoping this was the rare case where the Amazon-UK delivery is taking its maximum delivery time.

But I doubt it...  :-\

Will wait a few days before I try to trace my package.

Edited to add:

ARGH! I just got my postal notice NOW. What's annoying is that it was dated January 16th, so had they been punctual in delivering it, my package would've been saved!  :-[

Ok, here's the good news. Email amazon right away and ask for a replacement. They will respond almost immediately to say they will send one right away.

The not-so-good news, for me anyway, is that the dvd that got damaged is no longer in their stock. So they just credited me with the amount.

Passed by the Cubao Post Office this afternoon, "just in case." Yup, my package was also allegedly lost in the blaze. They said over 700 packages burned.

I sent an email to Amazon UK already.  :(

What makes Amazon UK #1 in my book:

My replacement order with all burned items is already "Shipping Soon," barely four hours after I sent my email request for assistance on the matter.

Amazing.  :)

And to end this story:

My replacement package arrived at my doorstep TODAY, three days after I reported the package burned.
