how will you know if your package is gonna be shipped by royal logistics or pick-up at post office?

There's no way.  It's all by chance, but usually royal logistics (for Amazon orders only).  :)

I thought Amazon employs DHL's service? DHL was the one that handled my LOTR:ROTK and Kill Bill 1 & 2 order. I got slapped with a P2,000+ bill by the way (aside from the actual value of the said items) with that delivery.

Aren't they referring to Royale Logistics?  If Royale Logistics now has all Amazon packages, pare that's good thing!  O0

only small packages are handled by Royale Logistics. big items still go through international parcel department of PO.

make sure you limit your orders to small items. :)

hem, need your advise... I am planning to buy discs from koreandvds but the total price is about $137. Of course thru EMS siya. Any chances of it being taxed? The package will be a bit on the heavy side - about 1300g total...  ;D

nakup.. shall text you na lang bro.. i have found an online store which no longer ships to the Philippines (just this week). weird. i am planning to order from them and ship it to JAC HK, which is a customs tax free destination. tapos i might get it na lang from Leiden and company para sure na makakarating and no tax.

:)

jeck, tried to order one time from koreandvds with a total of $127+ 2790g. i wasn't taxed, but i dont know if i was just lucky  ;D  koreandvds never put the declared value in the box, as stated in the comment section when you're ordering. can anyone confirm?

rniverson.. i have noticed nga na.. koreandvds are not placing the amount based on the package received and the checkout notice found in the website. must be a recent policy change.

before, bawal naman tanggalin ang declared value... hope it's a better option for all of us..

from experience, they charged me $25.00 per disc. so pag 3 discs, declared value assumption is $75.00. btw,
when shipping orders using EMS (but with no declared value), the online merchant's liability is limited to zero.. so koreandvds is shipping at risk in my opinion.

IPF P250
Customs Doc Stamp P250
BIR Stamp P15
TOTAL: P1,375

Haven't paid yet.  Come to think of it, mukhang mas lugi ka talaga if your order is less than $50.00 dahil P1,000 rin ang babayaran mo, di ba? (at least for MCPO)

yep, my previous order was less than $50 and it was taxed with P1030. after kong sinabi na babalikan ko na lang kasi wala akong pera ngayon, they gave me a cheaper option, P530 w/o receipt. i tried going there monday early morning, pero nde talaga ako nakaligtas  ;D

Warning: I just picked up an Amazon package today from QC Post Office (I normally get my packages at the Cubao Post Office). I asked the lady at the counter why my pick-up post office changed, and she said they already centralized QC Area packages from Amazon to arrive there.

Although I didn't have to pay any taxes (for a split $50 order), the lady at the counter did warn me: "Next time po, mata-tax na kayo. May order po kami na kahit $10, ita-tax na namin."

$10? I remember when we were told to keep orders under $100... then $50... now it's $10? What can we order that'll be under $10?

Used B-movies, probably.  ::)

If that should be the worst scenario......Mr. Hankey....I think we should go on the streets and have some noise barrage already.....you'll purchase original dvds then you'll be taxed exorbitantly......what we pay for these stuff are our own blood, sweat and tears.....

The best way is to course your US orders through JAC! Hope hindi rin masilip ito...

Now you know why governments want you to patronize only legit products.  Apart from the lobbying of Hollywood moguls and the pressure of GATT, IMF, etc,  government can tax these items, not the pirated ones.   ;D

Funny follow-up:

Right after being warned that Amazon orders were now centralized and will all be taxed by the post office, my next Amazon shipment by standard interntional shipping just arrived...

...at my house, with no customs due. ;D

Makati CPO namimihasa. They've begun charging customs duty and VAT based on the number of pieces and not transactional value even though there's an invoice.  So multi-disc box set is valued at $20 per disc!  >:(

That seems highly irregular. Mukhang sa post office ka may problema. I've probably had around 100 Amazon/Amazon-UK/Amazon-France shipments since 1998, mostly delivered either to San Juan, Cubao, or QC PO, and I've never lost a single package.

I wonder who to alert for things like this?

nope.. 2 were Amazon and 2 were Koreandvds...  :P

these were orders made in November and December so I am assuming that someone needed a lot of kickback during the holiday season..

Yes sir! Las Pinas PO I believe is No.1 when it comes to complaints about their service...

i have lost numerous amazon orders and korean dvds from LP PO. this is a "classic". i received a notification last feb 10, 2005 stating that i have a package in an M-Bag. i assume that these are the gigantic merchandise that i have ordered last december. when i went to the LP PO to claim it. viola! the M-BAG package cant be found. i was asked to return twice but to no avail they told me that the room is in complete mess and finding my package is close to impossible. really now?!? they asked me to return next week and they assured me that everything would be in order and  the package would (resurface),  ready for pick up.

so.. jeckjeck, consider yourself lucky..  you just have to get used to it.. after all, we have no idea where to complain this "Only in The Philippines" phenomena.

check ko next week ulit.. haaayyy.. buhay..

You can send a written request to them, duly received.  They are required to act on that within a set amount of time.

When all else fails, you can report them to the Postmaster General, Civil Service Commission or the Office of the Ombudsman for gross negligence.
