You can try and find this book, very informative.

Or google some research material on the net.  Sites such as this can be very helpful.

http://geek.scorpiorising.ca/RDH4.html

Contains the complete Radiotron Designer's Handbook 4th Edition.

Almost forgot...

For Basic Electronics, try Electronics Enthusiast Volumes 1-5. Available yan sa National Bookstore or Alexan sa SM City.

anong diagram ba ang kailangan mo? push-pull? set?

dito sangkatutak na diagram/schematic meron...

Sound waves is Analog & TUBE is an Analog Device:

"Audiophiles contend that tubes are better than solid-state principally for Amps because the former generate Accurate Sine Wave Patterns when reproducing recorded sound. The Tube is an Analog device so the sound it produces is natural and therefore more musical."

(Taken from the "Tube Amps in Digital Age" article from one of AV magazine)

Very funny...  ;D
How about 'electricity', 'heat' and the other forms of energy?
Are they also analog?   ;D

Some authors in audio magazines really amuse me with their 'pseudo-scientific'
explanations that are nothing more than science fiction...  ;D
I'm no acoustic engineer but I do know my high school physics.  ;D

Very interesting...

During my days, analog is a form of transmission that is a continuous "wave" electrical signal that varies in frequency and/or amplitude in response to the variations of a physical phenomena such as human speech or music. Hence, conventional TV, AM and FM transmissions are analog. An analog signal can even contain a carrier and a modulated signal in the same wave.

Electricity, as you said is also in a form of wave, however it is not modulated and only has a single frequency so therefore it is not an analog signal. Unless you vary it's frequency or its amplitude of modulation, electricity will always be a source of power and not an analog signal. However once electricity is varying then it can be "analogous".

Heat on the other hand is a form of radiation, unless it's radiation levels varies in response to a control signal then it is not analog. However, an oven with a thermostat and timer (control signals) is a device that varies heat radiation and is therefore an analog device.

Another definition of analog is:

An analog or analogue signal is any continuously variable signal. It differs from a digital signal in that small fluctuations in the signal are meaningful. Analog is usually thought of in an electrical context, however mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and other systems may also use analog signals.

Small changes my man, small changes.

ANALOG: "time" displayed by mechanical clocks, "temperature" displayed by mercurial thermometers, "voltages and currents" of ac waveforms displayed thru meter-movement type voltmeters and ammeters. "analog" because we have to know how to read scales and meters.

DIGITAL: in a sense that we read them in numbers without so much of thinking. "digital" is when those above analog quantitites are converted into "1's" and "0's" thru the use of transducers and A2D converters.

these are all there is to this. very simple concept. ;D

I think the magazine could have described it as "more accurate analog waveforms" instead of sinewaves...just me.

"more accurate analog waveforms"

this is a meaningless phrase imho, for how do you measure transients? how accurate are they really reproduced?
most THD measurements are made with sine waves, and music is in no way a sine wave, the way we know what a sine wave is. music is all about transients, attack, decay, pitch and sine wave is just but a component of music.

http://www.meta-gizmo.com/Tri/index-1.html . an interesting read. i don't have any preference whether its tubes, solid state or what not...as long as it sounds good to me :) Do read the articles as it is and take it with a grain of salt.

since i started reading some electronic articles im beginning to understand this jargon little-by-little......salamat sa mga tips mga sirs...........another question ........based on comparison i think ss amps are more complicated ,,that is probably one of  the reasons why some of us are fascinated by them...i really dont know how to rephrase this question so i would'nt be off topic but i just cant find a way, so here it goes...........if tube designs are simple?bakit yung mga nababasa ko pwede kang makuryente at mamatay pag nagkamali ka?is this true?natatakot tuloy ako!!!!!!also 1 more thing may mga hindi ako maintindihan sa mga diagrams yung symbol ng tube sa schems may dalawang tail at lagi tong nasa ilalalim !!does these tail connect to the power supply/transformer directly? ;D

do not believe everything you read, hook line and sinker, maliligaw ka nyan, article on audio specially tubes are more often than not about personal prefferences of the author more than anything, specially if  the article does not disscuss technical matters, just opinions. it is very easy to spot technical discussions, all bases are covered and figures can be verified and checked.

if you are just going to follow schematics and build amps from those, then for as long as you do it right, it becomes a no brainer! tubes or ss parehas lang yan. kaya lang with tubes, higher voltages are involved, that is why electrical safety is a must with tubes more than with solid state.

it is when you want to design and build ss or tube amps from scratch on your own, (not the copy cat style design!) that you need to know all theories involved. and if you have say, an ee or ece engineering background, then it could be easier for you. i remember in college we had several units of electronics subjects, but they never theach you how to design amps.

the symbol you are refering to could be the filaments and they connect to the heater winding of the transformer, some or most schematics do not show this, given na yan, like it goes without saying. ;D

elvenears,

an ss amp, for example, a super leach power amp powered at +/-95V can also be lethal. so wether ss or tubes, try to be safe for these voltages can can separate your soul from your body.  ;)

what do you have in mind? would you like to build a preamp or an amp? if this would be your first project then try a simple one first.
