LPs are unsampled reproduction of the "master" and therefore are better copies of the original recording. CDs on the other hand are sampled as much and as frequent as possible to produce the best replica of the original recording. the playback fidelity is then depedent on the sampling technology much as it would on the playback system in use.

to many, TTs are more like toys for the big boys. can be explored, tweaked, modified more obviously than dgtal players.

try it once, parang shabu yan...hehehe.
just when i thought i had everything done, gumuho ang mundo ko when i heard a very nice sounding analog demo...tsk tsk tsk.

now im starting to realize, ive only just begun. spinning vinyls is a different trip bro. kakaiba. there maybe a lot of explanations and justifications why is this so pero you have to try it at home to understand what i mean.

Even with the best, most expensive CDPs i've listened to, CDs IMHO cannot achieve the warm, enveloping sound an LP can give...in addition, there is also (in most LPs that I have) fantastic bass reproduction...while i have LPs w/ the ticks and pops, the "tick and pop sound" is also addicting, hehehe! Most of the time, i cannot explain why i am so in love w/ LPs rather than CDs...nowadays, i rarely listen to CDs except when i am "tamad" to operate the turntable, and also clean the LP...or if i am sleepy para OK lang if the CD repeats itself...kakatakot pag nakatulog ka and your turntable is working, baka maputulan ng stylus, hehehe! :D

Supes,

a CD that is full of scratches will also sound like it has ticks and pops, but why is it that when the CD does that, it's annoying, but with the vinyl record, it sounds so pleasant  ::)

CD ticks and pops are very irritating to listen, it's like there's something in our sensory nerves that say it's not natural sound while LP ticks and pops sounded like it's part of the musical score and someone is cooking popcorn... nakakagutom..hehehe  ;D

The early CDPs were really no match for turntables, sucky DACs and all.  You can say the same thing about the early CD's.  However, the CDPs and CDs of today have improved tremendously to the point that I won't be letting go of my CDP even if I have a turntable as well.
