was not impressed with their first gig as a complete band. I agree with indie.. won't waste my time nor money on this band with their choice of a frontman.

When the files are up, I'll link the various versions of the songs alongside the version of the new frontman and you guys can decide for yourself.

Garfield, you're being too kind with your comment. :) I think the first performance was a disaster. The singer was already too tired to reach the upper registers of the songs on his SECOND song with the band! That was utterly pathetic.

Jason N. looks bored, I think he prefers Magni, but still, how can he compete to SuperEgo Tommy? ;D

The backlash has already begun, visit any forum on supernova and the general consensus is "What were they thinking?!"

IMO Choose anyone between Magni, Toby and Dilana and you'll have one rock act with class. I guess hanap ni Tommy kung sino babagay sa kanya, not really for the whole band.

Yup, Tommy wants a person who really knows how to swallow the mic.

My guess is they (Tommy especially) don't want anyone who can upstage them. Magni, Dilana, and Storm can leave them after one album and start off solo careers. Lukas has enough presence but not enough talent to prosper outside of Supernova.

Lukas Rossi wins Rock Star: Supernova

Lukas Rossi has been selected as the lead singer for the group about to be known as something other than Supernova. He’s now the second Canadian to win Rock Star.

“Lukas, your look, your energy, your vocals, the way you move, everything has been really really amazing for us,” Tommy Lee said. “You’re our boy. Welcome. Hell, yeah.”

While he apparently received the most votes after Tuesday’s performance show, his victory confirms a spoiler from two weeks ago, when Janet Charlton reported Lukas had already been selected the winner. That prompted Dave Navarro to deny that was true, but that Lukas defeated Dilana Robichaux, who was the favorite among many, might prompt theories that the group wanted a male lead singer or had already selected him.

Interestingly, in an interview Lukas did last night with canada.com, he says, “I wasn’t going to walk away from this without being the singer, man.” That prompts the interviewer to ask, “So you knew going into it that you were going to emerge the victor?” Lukas clarified his remark, saying, “Well, yes and no. If the band chose somebody besides myself because it would have made the band what they wanted for their vision then I would step back and respect that. But, you know, I’m standing here now and obviously I was the right person for the job.”

I was reading some of the posts of the Lukas defenders and there was one really rabid fan of Lukas who was insisting that Lukas deserved to win because he grew up in the streets. Duh! I didn't know that the show was a charity contest.

Oh, and the conspiracy theorists have another reason to strengthen their claim -- apparently, before the announcement of the winner, a commercial for Survivor was aired and it was set to Lukas' original song "Head Spin". This firmly bolsters the claim that the band already knew who they wanted to pick weeks ago. Remember, Survivor is also a Mark Burnett production.

as "impoverished" as JD forune was before ROCKSTAR:INXS  (he was basically homeless and living off "friends")... he never played on that fact to win votes. how strange that someone would actually make a comment like that.

the band's gone tone deaf.  years of exposure to high decibel music must have done serious damage to their ear drums to make them think rossi is anywhere near good.

I was hoping Magni or Toby will be the winner.
Though, deep inside me, I'm really for Lukas. Supernova's kind of music is well suited for Lukas.
Go Lukas!!! You have a least 1 fan here.

Dilana's career will surely be better than Supernova. Just watch her soar.

 ;D ;D ;D

Was also batting for Magni, unfortunately he wasn't the chosen one.  Well...that's their decision.  Let's watch and see what happens to this band.  Will they be able to achieve the popularity of INXS? hmmmm....  ;)

Rock Star: Supernova group faces poor reception as fans ask CBS to renew the show

After a concert last month in California, a music critic said the performance by Rock Star: Supernova, the lawsuit-created name of the group constructed on CBS’ Rock Star: Supernova, was like a car crash.

The show “drew one of the smallest crowds I’ve ever seen during 25 years of visiting the arena,” Jim Harrington writes. He added that the show’s winner, Lukas Rossi, “was so dreadful, coming across like a rock-singer puppet on strings, that it was hard to pay attention to the other musicians. Like a car crash, one that is so devastating that you can’t pay attention to the rest of the scenery, Rossi dominated this show for better or for (mainly) worse.”

Fans seem to agree. As of last month, the groups’ debut album has “sold a mere 49,000 copies in the United States since its November 21, 2006 release,” according to Blabbermouth.
