Relive the horror and the madness! Pelikula at Lipunan 2006 brings back on the big screen Peque Gallaga's monumental epic masterpiece ORO, PLATA, MATA on March 12, 6pm at Gateway Mall, Cineplex.

Two aristocratic families try to preserve their lifestyle, amidst the grim realities of the Second World War.

It would be cool if any of the cast members will be present on March 12 to give insights on the film before the screening.

FLIP MOVIE CLUB headed by Jessica Zafra assembled its cast and crew during Oro's 20th Anniversary at Greenbelt Cinema, 3 years ago.

That was on the opening party scene which runs for about twenty minutes.

Was your aunt relative of Gallaga, viperkid? Most of the cast, including the bit players were Negrenses. In the retrospective docu, even Peque rehearsed with the cast during the ballroom scene.

I hope the film will not burn and melt this time and be shown in chronological order.

The most complete and the uncut one is from the archive of Abs-Cbn.

But CCP still has some copies.

Nope its the master print that CCP owns, wedge. Gallaga was outbid by Abs-Cbn when the film was auctioned by the government.

This is one Pinoy movie I truly admired when it came out. Really head and shoulders above any local movie I've seen at that time. Am not sure if I can watch this in the scheduled showing but I really hope they release this on DVD with the transfer quality it deserves.

The most complete running time of ORO happened during FLIP MOVIE CLUB screening at Greenbelt Cinema before it melt right in front of the audience!

Jessica Zafra was hysterical, Peque was just cool.

I just talked to some people from Mowelfund Film Institute, its confirmed, 6pm is the start of the screening time. They don't know yet what print will be use. I hope its from the archive of Cinema One.

Just came from the screening a while ago. First my gripe, they just used the vhs copy transferred to dvd of the movie, its not the film reel itself. The screen looks blurred especially the opening credits up to the closing of the PLATA section. It jumped when the four women were playing the last mahjong scene in the hacienda before the panic at the villa. Cut to the forest hideout when Cherie Gil succumbs to Ronnie Lazaro. Jeez, since I was seated with some students watching the film for the ist time, they don't mind if they were seeing was blurred and they don't see anymore the much talked about EXODUS SCENE!

Peque Gallaga was nowhere in sight, Nick de Ocampo gave some insights on the film and its included on his top ten Best Filipino Films of all-time. The good news is, its the complete version! The party scene is much much longer, the tension and panic at the villa on the PLATA section is much longer too than my cable version before the astounding Exodus scene. And all the controversial scenes were not sanitized. Still after more than twenty years, the film still grabs and blew me away!

The video looks bad on the big screen. But its the complete version, Blade. You can even see the nuns dancing during the cotillon of Maggie (Sandy Andolong), the band playing before the party was cut short. Almost one hour was excised from my cable copy version.

There was a shot at the terrace of the villa in the Plata section wherein Inday Lorenzo (Fides Cuyugan- Asencio) & Nena Ojeda (Liza Lorena) were lying on the couch that looks so gorgeous and beautiful on the screen. It seems that the disaster will not strike on the two families.
