Does anyone still remember the "James at" series?  I remember there was at least an 'at 15' and 'at 16' season.  'Twas a memorable series for me and my best friend then as we were both going through a lot of the stuff that Lance Kerwin's character was also going through.   A great 'coming of age' series for young boys.   ;)

Sadly I don't think there's any interest to put 'em out on DVD....   :(

Back in the early 80's, there was this sit-com about the school lives of teens in a mid-western town, called Square Pegs. The show starred a young and fresh Sarah Jessica Parker, who played a geeky lass complete with eyeglasses and braces, as one of the misfits ("You can't put a square peg in a round hole..."). Her first tv role was so unlike her previous turn as a fashionista writer in Sex and the City. Sadly it only lasted for a season, but that show had one of the funniest scripts written for TV (well when you're 9 or 10, everything seems to be funnier than it should be).

I wish it could be remade, or at least made available again in local TV (RPN-9 used to air it).

Pre-cursor nga pala ng X-Files, yung "Sapphire and Steel."

It starred Joanna Lumley (The New Avengers; Aboslutely Fabulous) and David mcCallum (The Invisible Man). Intro to the show goes like this:

"All irregularities will be handled by the forces controlling each dimension. Trans-uranic heavy elements may not be used where there is life. Medium atomic weights are available - Gold, Lead, Copper, Jet, Diamond, Radium, Sapphire, Silver, and Steel. Sapphire and Steel have been assigned."
This is a knockout tv show particualrly for sci-fi fans. It's more mysterious than X-files because the lead actors are not revealed even up to the end of the series if they're aliens, deities, or whatever (but they're definitely not human). The scenes are all done inside the studio which even adds to its creepiness. Parang Mystery Theater or something.

Electric Company (hey you guys!)

Oh wow, I loved The Electric Company--it was, well, um, groovy, to say the least.  8)
That's why I really want to get this DVD set:
http://pinoydvd.com/board/index.php?topic=45978.0

But the show I miss the most is Northern Exposure.

^^LOL, I remember that! I think Electrawoman & Dyna Girl was produced by Sid & Marty Krofft (sp?), same guys who did Sigmund and the Sea Monsters
--or were they part of the Sigmund show? Can't remember na...

There was also something similar about an Egyptian super-heroine--was it Isis? If I recall correctly, it used to air with another short, Shazam! (DC's Captain Marvel)

And I also remember a series I really liked but barely understood at the time--a scifi series with cool vehicles and groovy (there's that word again) outfits; UFO was its title, and it was produced by the same team who would go on to do Space:1999 (another great series) a decade later.

"and there is one tv series that has a robot girl in the family?"

Was this Small Wonder?

Yup it's called "Isis", the archaeologist who turns into an egyptian goddess yata once she utters "O Mighty Isis!".  She can command nature to do things like lift her up to fly, move objects, create earthquakes. Tama ba?

Grabe parang mas imaginative yata ang mga superheroes in the 70's.

If you guys liked the old Batman series, you really MUST watch the reunion movie, "Return to the Batcave":

It's totally hilarious! Quite hard to describe. I'd say part caper, part parody, part reenactment... high camp value.  ;D

Yeah, I remember that one. Also Degrassi High, which they showed on FEN. And then there's (gasp) Parker Lewis...

I remember that one, as well as The Waltons, mini-series like Rich Man, Poor Man, and features like Sooner or Later (with songs by Rex Smith) and The Boy in the Plastic Bubble.

Does anyone still remember the "James at" series?  I remember there was at least an 'at 15' and 'at 16' season.  'Twas a memorable series for me and my best friend then as we were both going through a lot of the stuff that Lance Kerwin's character was also going through.   A great 'coming of age' series for young boys.   ;)

I remember watching that on Channel 9 (I think). They showed SNL and (sometimes) Fridays (or a rival comedy show that featured Devo) on FEN, if not WWF Saturday Main Event. That was hours before they showed B-films like Attack of the Killer Tomatoes and even Elvira's show.

Can I mention sketch comedy shows (e.g. Saturday Night Live, Mad TV)? One of the wildest sketch comedies I've watched was (I'm holding my breath...)
I n  L i v i n g  C o l o r

The Wayans siblings were the craziest sickest bunch that ever graced a comedy show. From impersonations of Milli Vanilli, Oprah Winfrey, Arsenio Hall, Grace Jones, Whitney Houston, to original characters like Antwone Jackson the homeless guy, Homey the Clown, the Homeboyz, and Hey Mon with the Jamaican family the Headleys, they made me appreciate (and laugh out hysterically) humor, Afro-American style (Yikes, I think I'm being racist... sorry)

Oh, and Jim Carrey was first discovered here. Was he one crazy sick guy on that show. His gender-confused beauty queen-fitness instructor Vera de Milo drove me nuts...!
