There will be a small screening of Ebolusyon this saturday, 9am-9pm, in the Ortigas, Pasig area. If you are truly interested to watch text 0917.842.2192 with your name for the details. Say you read it on pinoydvd.

Hi keating, sadly no plans yet to screen BWS theatrically here in the Philippines anytime soon. I'd love to try to organize a screening sometime this year if it would be possible, though the producer can be tricky to talk to. Fickle he is.

Wow......nice idea, commentary! Please try to organize the screening. I miss it twice during Cinemanila and at the screening of Zafra's FLIP MOVIE CLUB.

i can't believe you haven't seen Batang West Side... i heard that producer Tony Veloria has no intentions of even releasing the movie on dvd. i hope he changes his mind. i met him last year here in NY during the film's screening.

That's my regret, Jo. I only learned after the screening na. Zafra's FLIP MOVIE CLUB has got to be the coolest premiere screening of films especially the local ones wherein you'll have a chance to meet the filmmakers and have a sort of huntahan/discussions with them.

The raves are starting to grow! Will CINEMALAYA include this one?

Closing film at Cinemanila, Nov. 15 Greenbelt Cinema, 2pm. Bring lipovitan and drink lots of coffee. Saw the rough cut, terrific film, nice follow-up of Lav after EBOLUSYON NG ISANG PAMILYANG PILIPINO.

Forget the coffee, apples work better and won't raise your blood pressure.

It's excellent. Unfinished feel to it, but that's not surprising. Point is, you want to know what happens next. Article coming out on Businessworld this Friday.

Nice, nice review of HEREMIAS, Noel! Keep it up, man! Its the most visually appealing of all Lav Diaz films.
I'm sure it will surely test everyone's patience, but those long tracking shots are all dazzling to behold.

Part two will be shot in Zambales and we will gonna see finally..........the final cut.

I'm starting to like this film than EBOLUSYON NG ISANG PAMILYANG PILIPINO inspite of its length. Its painful in one sitting but there's redemption at the end.

If part two will extend to another 9 hours, whoa.......that's another challenge for us!

Noel, part two will be 24 hours long. I was applying for an extra in part two. I'm just waiting for the call slip from Lav.  ;D :D

I usually turne down extra parts. Doesn't look good when you praise/criticize the film. Look what happened to Gino Dormiendo.

GINO DORMIENDO as Lino Brocka was miscast in EBOLUSYON. He seems very far from Lino's personality and character.

BTW saw ANAK NI BROCKA last night, I can't get the person who is responsible for Lino's death. Any comment, Noel.

Danilo Brocka, Lino's brother believes that there is a foul play on his accident/death.

I thought the 'person responsible for Lino's death' gave his best-ever performance on that hospital bed.

Whoa......so the foul play attested by Lino's brother was not true?

It was a revelation that they were able to interview the taxi driver who saw the accident.

A couple of questions:

01. Are any of Lav Diaz's gargantuan films available on DVD yet?

02. Has he ever considered letting them be broadcast on TV/cable as miniseries so he could reach a wider audience?

Thanks.

1) Nope, fraid not. The shorter films can be had, I think--Hesus, maybe. Try Regal online or Kabayan Central. The problem with Batang West Side is that the producer is sitting on the film; he just won't do anything about it. The problem with the others--well, I guess they haven't gotten around to doing it, or don't have the funds.

2) If i'tll be broadcast, it'll have to be continuous. Lav insists on screening it at one sitting.

Lav is now ready to shoot the 40 days fasting of HEREMIAS in Zambales this December up to early January of next year. Zambales has one of the coolest weather during the holidays and the people are all discipline. You can even reach your rendezvous without being late. I like also the beaches there.

He is currently working on the sounds of part 1 for the Rotterdam gig.

It premiered at the Rotterdam Film Fest last Jan. for 15 hours. I presume part two is only 7 hours long.
