Topic: Upgrading - Your opinions, please.

Hello to everyone,

I need your opinions to decide which one to get, but basically it's a choice between an LCD or Plasma. I've narrowed the choices between:

43" Plasma - Pioneer PDP436XDE or PDP436SXE
40" LCD - Sony Bravia KDL-W40A12U or KDL-V40A12U

The difference with NA/Phil models could be just the built-in DVB tuner for UK broadcasts, but picture-wise I still need opinions. HDTV will be available in my area in a couple of months. The stores here either don't have both brands on display, or can't get bothered to have both TV's side-by-side hooked to the same source with the same cables.

Any opinion will be much appreciated. Thanks!

I'd go for the bravia.....I like the picture quality of LCD ...by the way which part of the UK are you in?  I used to work in the west london area near heathrow.....have you tried richersounds or seven oaks?  Try visiting some of the specialist stores they will be more accomodating than the high street stores......

Hi dracula,

I'm in South Hants. There's not much shops for me to go around to. I can't fault the blokes at the local Richer Sounds as they're really friendly. But they don't have the Bravia, neither does Seven Oaks. It seems only the high street shops in this place carry both PDP436's and Bravia's. I guess I'll just have to try the shops in the next city/cities.

I also like the Bravia's picture. If it wasn't for the lack of PC-input, I'd choose it straight away. Btw, the HDTV channels will be on Sky+.
