If you read the site, Radial woofer drivers are made from a mix of materials proprietary to Harbeth, as the designer of Harbeth wanted a materil better than the off the shelf polyprop/kevlar/paper. So technically you can't produce a Harbeth clone since sa driver material palang unobtanium na.
Some of them daw are no longer produced. So pag naubos na batch nila ng raw materials, no more Radial drivers. Kaya there is no possibility of Radial drivers being cloned as these are made by Harbeth themselves.
Unlike other speakers (the ProAc clones come to mind) which source raw drivers outside which can be approximated by similar products by the same manufacturer.
Seas produces the metal dome tweeters for Harbeth pero per their specifications.
No substitute for the real thing . . . :-)
Just finished paying for my Compact 7s last year . . . Matagal pa bago palitan. Kaya idol ko yung mga naka SHL5 dito . . .
Teka teka, ibig nyong sabihin yung gamit na drivers ng harbeth eh,,, harbeth lang ang meron?
And as far as I am aware, not only are the materials a proprietary mix of their chemicals, the process itself is proprietary. The cones are thicker near the voice coil and thins out nearing the outer portion of the speakers. This is what makes harbeth speakers special...
Yung crossover madali. Magbukas ka lang ng harbeth available ang parts at kaya gayahin. But without the drivers, the crossover is useless since it was designed for the drivers.
Di ba yung enclosure ng harbeth, thin wall? Dapat ba manipis ang enclosure pag thin wall?
For those who are not aware, the thin walled speakers such as the harbeths and rogers give extra voice from their enclosure. That is one reason why wooden musical instruments sound very natural on these speakers. The somehow replicate the wooden vibrations created by the wooden instruments such as a guitar, a piano, violin and so much more....
