Yes. Only the PS1 SCPH-1000 and SCPH-1001 has these RCA jacks.

I don't think that the Playstation 1 model SCPH-1000 and 1001 has a digital out.

Last night fellow member funk firm invited me to his place for an audio session.
He requested that I bring my Ps1 so that we could compare the SQ against brainf's modded Cayin CD player (forgot what model)

I was reluctant to bring it because I feared the Cayin CD player would blow it out of the water.

I bought my Ps1 from a junk/surplus shop behind GMA 7 for php500.
What would you expect from a php500 CD player?

When I arrived it was apparent funk firm and brainf were excited to finally hear the Ps1.

After all connections were made we played the same material on both CD players at the same time.
The Cayin sounded great very detailed and crisp, when we switched to the Ps1 I noticed the Ps1's volume output was a few notches lower than the Cayin.
But only after a few seconds we concluded that the Ps1 was definitely very pleasant to the ears.
And it only got better the longer we listened to it.
Sabi nga ni funk firm "very analogue sounding"

At that moment I was very proud of my Ps1  ;D

Later on after about 30 minutes of basking in the beautiful Ps1 SQ I suggested that we compare it with the turntable.

Wowowee! I would say the Ps1 came 95% close to the turntable's sound character.
You can still hear the brush of the record and the record sounded a little bit more open.
But for php500 how can I complain.

funk firm enjoyed the Ps1 very much that he didn't want me to take it home  ;D

I came out very happy and satisfied after this session that I felt the need to take glamor shots of my Ps1.  ::)

puede pong makita yung connection sa likod? s-cart cable lang kasi ang gamit ko...puede ba yung 3.5mm to rca cable?

Optimized PCB layout and design perhaps coupled with the AKM D/A chip?

I believe that the necessary circuits were used on the Sony Playstation 1 to achieve very good sound quality. There was no cutting corners.

After doing modification on my Sony CDP M11 (entry level CDP) http://www.pinoydvd.com/index.php/topic,43433.0.html, I am convinced that using application notes and recommended circuit for the specific D/A converter used in your really does wonders to the sound quality. It is not enough to simply replace capacitors to better ones but to understand each circuit block so that the appropriate circuit or components can be added.

In this modification, I replaced the output circuit used by the Sony CXD2552BQ D/A chip on this CDP - the 2 pcs daughter boards on top of the picture to the right of the transformer. The original output circuit used by the CDP is much more simplified one and does not really achieve the sound quality I had in mind.

If the modification was simply replacing capacitors I believe I would not have achieved a very good sound quality level.
