This release is not as bad naman siguro as you guys describe it.

I think it's worth it naman. Kaya nga I'm gona wait for it to drop to 299 before I purchase it.

just got mine..and goodness - i should have gotten the R1...

1. the picture at the backcover is misleading...walang slipcase..walang stills/postcards..walang booklet/map...
2. the specs says English DTS 5.1....eh, wala naman!@!
3. grabe ang mga mispellings...."contaians" , "anotomy", "sorrround"....

the only viable act that we all should do is to snob this release and go for r1. i saw the actual product and they are in serious trouble..and very deskjet printer ang quality ng print.

Saw this last night. Maganda ang front cover. Pero pagdating sa likod, bigla luminaw ang malabo kong mata sa Englis (walang "h"). And also medyo annoying yung Viva Video sa likod.... $:-\$

I saw my friend's R3 copy last night and its very misleading. And to think it costs P900? You gotta be kidding!

well....to be fair, okay naman sa akin ang PQ/AQ of the disc...but a slipcase i feel is ideal for this packaging..

kaso lang, what really irks me the most is that the product is being mis-represented by the distributor!

Just ignore this release and get it elsewhere. I am not even sure if I'd get it once it goes on sale for 299. Maybe at 199.

Just bought this today at SM North EDSA Astroplus, and made the mistake of not reading through this thread before I bought it.

I initially thought that the absence of a slipcase for the digipak packaging was forgiveable. But when I got home and opened it, I was so disappointed that there was no insert and postcards as pictured on the back cover. I read through this thread and later found that there were also wrong spellings on the back cover ('Englis' and 'Anotomy'). Can't we do something about this, like complaining to VIVA or the DTI for misleading the buying public that what is pictured on the back cover is not the actual packaging?

rafgar, try returning it the store on the basis of having a misleading package. Then just try to wait for this title to be on sale... like what some of us are doing.

Thanks for the advice, but since the DVD is already in the hands of my daughter, it would be practically next to impossible to return it --- she's already watching it and plans to re-watch again tomorrow and the following days. She loves this movie and she has been waiting for this since we watched this in the theater last January.

I've already learned my lesson to always check here before buying local releases. Akala ko kasi, okay ang packaging since okay naman 'yung latest release ng Viva ng Sound of Music.

darn! didnt pre order this title in R1 coz i was pretty sure its local release will be at par with the r1. but with the comments posted in this thread....aaarrrgghhh!

I actually returned my copy after watching the WHOLE film and some special features. The reason I gave is there's no DTS track unlike what is written in the back. Astro people played the DVD on their player, tried looking for the DTS track (of course to no avail!), then refunded my purchase. Akala ko noong una di pwedeng mag-refund (replace lang) so I was thinking on getting the Sound of Music as replacement. So I was actually surprised when they refunded it.

In the end, nakalibreng panood pa ko. Hehe!

So rafgar, pwede mo pang ibalik yan after your daughter have seen it.

Apparently, some people were disappointed even with the R1. Commom problems were the picture was too soft and the colors muted... still, I'm sure its better than R3 since it complete with DTS, slipcase, cards and EVEN correct spellings (I hope)!
Some say it has bad visual effects which I disagree. It's not perfect but it certainly exceeds KK in the green screen skills department (Compositing), KK's was really bad. Kong himself is quite an achievement though.

I bought this title despite knowing of the missing inserts, and the horrendous spelling (unforgiveable!) and the misleading description of the DVD's special features at the back (thanks to this thread). Don't ask why.

Anyway, to the others who bought this, do you know how to access the string of teasers/trailers that play when you first insert the DVD (aside from manually entering the chapters for each teaser/trailer)? There's no link to the teasers in the main menu. I'm sure the R1 has it, like in other Disney titles (another reason to skip the R3

). Does this title also have any easter eggs?

I was actually holding a DVD of this yesterday (at Hongkong airport). Yung copy nya ay may slipcase(?) na white na may BBC. Can anyone post a review of this to help me decide if I'll be getting this na? Forgot how much this one sells. Do you guys think it's a good buy na? I will be passing HK airport kasi again on Wednesday (April 12) eh?

From what I know, the one with the BBC logo is not the theatrical film, it's the BBC-produced miniseries from many years ago.

This should be the strategy to make Magna rethink their packaging - return the set. You can always say you were misled by the false DTS claim at the back. The'll be swamped with returns, they'd have no choice but to put all these on 199 sale and get their printing right the next time.

Oo nga. By the way, it is released by Viva and not Magna.
