uebetan12, dami palang sites for movie guides. :o  I would usually just click on the first few sites that come up on Google.  Do you first check out these resources before buying or watching a dvd?  I would normally refer only to movie guides in the internet after watching a particular movie that I really liked, or if I wanted to know more about the actors/actresses.  Most of the time kasi I don't agree with the reviews on these reference guides.

I have come across this book "1001 movies to watch before you die" (or something like that).  Looks like a good resource book but medyo corny yung title ng book kaya di ko binili.  ;D

maganda yung 10001 movies to watch before you die pero mahal pa. nag aantay akong second hand sa mga book sale..

halos kasi lahat ng andun na encounter ko na sa internet.

usually ang mga dvds ko, researched lahat sa mga bboks at internet cross refer sa mga sources kung ano ang unang magandang bilhin ...

yung mga sources na sinabi ko, isa isahin mo yung mga yun at mga polls at lists sa internet, too many to mention pero the ones ive just mentioned will give you a good start.

p.s.

don't  forget

the american film institute's 100 greatest american films at british film instituttes 100 greatest british films of all time

kaya umabot na ng 300 ang collection ko at may around 50 dvds pa akong hinahanap at ina antay lumabas sa dvd

There's a British dvd review mag also that uebetan mentioned but very pricey, much higher than Empire Mag. Around 600 bucks.

as it is, you cant go wrong with empire as it contains a comprehensive review of the latest dvds to be released.  sa uk nga lang, but still, for 515 bucks a pop, sulit naman.

Yeah, Empire Mag has a comprehensive DVD Review Section also. I hope firewired will also publish a local dvd review mag that caters to R1 & maybe R3 dvds. He used to review dvds on Flip Magazine published by Jessica Zafra.

yeah that would be cool.  a local magazine entirely devoted to dvds both r1 and r3, for that matter, all things movies. i recall jingle magazine publishing a magazine of that sort back in the betamax days of the early 80s alhough i think it never got beyond the first issue.  now what was the name of that magazine?

i think it was VIDEO FILE.  anybody else remember that one?

Even Flip Mag went for only 5 issues. Can't recall Video File.

yeah it was video file.  just looked at my "lumang baul" and it was still there.  published by jingle magazine in june 1983.  went for 15 bucks back then.  had ads for trigon video and reviews of such distinct movies as hubad na gubat, diva, mga huwad na mananayaw, black sunday, blade runner, attack force z et al. plus comparisons between the beta and vhs formats.
