Yeah, kim, Smush played for Phoenix but was cut after 10 days (the irony!). He also played for the Pistons (they don't need him) and for the Cavs (they could certainly use him now).

Nash's MVP trophy -- that's the best picture of the year!!!

Kobe's shot to tie the game at the end of regulation is one of the most difficult I've seen. He had to avoid charging into one of the Suns, using a quick and smooth sidestep, and fire the ball up almost straight up to avoid being blocked. WOW. Dude can ball.

Hehehe...baka pwedi na i rename ito..LA Lakers Fans Thread... ;D ;D  Seriously, LA Lakers are still a Big Man away from being considered one of the elite(calling KG).  But now,  in this play-offs, things are really cooking up for them.  And I like them this way..underdogs.  If they beat the Suns, they'll  face the Clippers (who just won btw) in the second round (HOME FLOOR ADVANTAGE anyone?).  If the basketball gods will still be smiling on them (refs too, David Stern must be smiling on a LA-LA series, after all LA is the league's 2nd largest market) and advance to the Conference Finals, I'll be cheering on the Mavs to advance too.  I think, the Lakers match up much well with the Mavs, than say the Spurs.

With the number of buzzer-beaters and game winners, this is pretty much shaping to be one of the most exciting playoffs:

1. Kobe's tying lay-up in regulation, and game winner in OT of game 4.
2. Brent Barry's double bounce three in Game 2 to send the game to OT.
3. Kevin Martin's buzzer beating lay-up of a steal in Game 3.
4. Lebron's double pump bank shot game winner in game 3.
5. Dirk's game-tying three pointer in regulation of Game 3.

And come to think of it, we're only in the 1st round!

Writers are already calling a Laker-Clipper match-up: here's an email sent to bill simmons, ganito magiging kainit to (if lakers where to finish the suns)

One recent e-mail from a Clippers fan/reader sums everything up. I'm omitting his name for reasons that will become obvious as you're reading:

"You absolutely hit it right on the head when you described Clippers fans' feelings toward Lakers fans (two weeks ago). I've been a Clippers season-ticket holder for three years (sec. 209) and have been a huge fan since I was in middle school and Michael Cage, Mike Woodson and Larry Drew were our 'stars.' Lemme tell ya, I used to be one of those super-obnoxious sports fans (you're from Boston, you know the type) who would go to my team's games, be as loud and belligerent as possible, heckle the players and argue/fight with the opposing teams' fans. Well, since I've been married -- and especially now since I have a 2-year-old daughter -- I'm a shell of my former rabid self. Now I rarely yell and only cheer or clap in-between giving my daughter her 'Finding Nemo' snacks or her sippee cup. Arguing and fighting? Out of the question.

"But last year, at a Clippers/Lakers game (Clip home game), I nearly lost it in front of my wife and then 1-year-old daughter. First, I had to hear the nearby Laker fans' snide comments for the entire game. Then, with the Lakers getting blown out with about eight minutes to go in regulation, several of their idiot fans, in typical Laker fan fashion, decided to leave. Rather than exit in quiet shame like they should have, they decided to try [to] razz the home crowd and point to the Lakers' championship banners as they left. Well, in a moment of temporary insanity where I forgot that I was a father, husband and non-criminal, I practically leapt over several seats and a couple rows to try [to] murder those smug a-holes. If my wife and the sight of my baby girl didn't snap me out of it, I would've been in jail -- and, worse, had my season tix revoked!

"In a nutshell, these are the type of emotions Laker fans bring out of me. Honestly, I can get along with most everybody, but obnoxious Laker fans? Forget it! It's to the point where we sell or give away every Clipper/Laker game in our season package because I don't want to risk getting too worked up. I used to be a Dodger fan (long story) and hated Giants fans, too ... but they've NEVER had the same effect on me as Laker fans. I don't know if I've been a Clipper fan for too long and have heard way too many comments, or if it's true that 99 percent of all Laker fans are frontrunning, spoiled jackasses who actually think Sasha Vujacic is a legitimate NBA player. What can you expect from fans who orchestrated the first sports championship-related riot in L.A. history (after the Lakers title win in '00) or dress their toddlers in the jersey of an accused rapist/infidel?"

Lakers are being blown out...looks like a game 6 in staples.  Did you see Raja Bell make the clothesline flagrant foul on Kobe?  That's hate and anger man, its definitely  a "I don't care if i get thrown out/suspended I gotta take you out" kind of foul.....these guys hate each other....And its gonna be an emotional game 6.   Lakers are gonna be tested.  The pressure's definitely on them.  GET READY TO RUMBLE!!

Is this hollywood or what?  Kwame Brown's being investigated for allegation of sexual assault saturday night.  Marc Stein of ESPN meanwhile said "Even when they lose, they win"  referring to the Lakers...then pondered that Raja Bell is lucky if he'll get only a one-game suspension from the WWE move he made on Kobe comparing it to the flagrant fouls dished out by Artest and Posey that got them 1 game suspensions. Only in LA LA Land folks...

Hope the Lakers win on Friday.  If they don't, it's going to be very tough to win a Game 7 on the road.  :(

Will Star Sports air this game?

"I have no respect for him. I think he's a pompous, arrogant individual."
Raja Bell, about Kobe Bryant........after being suspended for one game.

Dang!!  Its pure hate man.

I think their animosity started pa when Raja was with the Sixers when they met in 2001 Finals.  And started to escalate when Raja told reporters in a Phoenix win in the regular season where Kobe scored 50 on him, "He gets 50 and we win the game, at the end of the day, I am OK with that. Even though it (stinks) to have 50 dropped on you, if we win, I've done my job. I really don't give a (darn) if he respects me. If I can keep him preoccupied on beating me 1-on-1, then the four other guys aren't getting shots and that plays into our hands." To which Kobe responded, "I don't even think about Raja Bell, I have bigger fish to fry then Raja Bell. You have got to be kidding."

Hehe..this is NBA telenovela folks.........as for the game, I think game 6 is game 7.  If Lakers win they advance.  If it goes game 7, though id like a laker win, i just can't imagine the young Lakers winning  a game 7 on the road, what with the tremendous momentum Suns will be riding on.
