Congrats to the Miami Heat!  I'm really happy for Zo - of all the Heat players in this championship team, he is the one who deserves this title the most!  Solid Miami Heat yan ;D

So you mean Miami didn't need Shaq's 9 points, 12 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 block for this game?  It's still a team game...

If you go to NBA.com now, they put up a nice flash intro paying tribute to the Heat as the 2006 Champs.  Pansin ko lang, sa team picture (same as the one edboy7 posted above), it's Payton and Zo who seem happiest while holding on tight to the championship trophy.  :)

Kelan kaya lalabas ang official NBA championship video/dvd for the Heat?

Bill Simmons said it best in his Finals preview column:

No team depends on the refs quite like the Heat. When the refs are calling all the bumps on Shaq and protecting Wade on every drive, they're unstoppable. When they're calling everything fairly, they're eminently beatable. If they're not getting any calls, they're just about hopeless. I could see the refs swinging two games in Miami's favor during this series, possibly three.

His latest one is also a good read:

his defense was tremendous, 2 key blocks that would have tied or shift momentum to dallas

Bill Simmons might be right.  I chuckled when I saw this line from a fan :  "I want to say something about Dwayne Wade, but I fear I may get called for a foul."
-- Warren, Ludington, Mich.

and this:

After witnessing the Game 5 debacle, I am absolutely convinced that Stern is trying to fix the Finals for D-Wade and the Heat. Stackhouse's suspension, Dirk's phantom foul in OT, and then Joey Crawford's inexplicable call for a Mavs timeout -- it all adds up too perfectly. This could be a conspiracy as far-reaching as Watergate. I can already imagine the inevitable ESPN movie, "All The Commissioner's Men," where a stubborn, upstart young sports columnist brings down Stern and the entire NBA hierarchy. So, Simmons, the only question is: Will you be our Bob Woodward?
-- Robert P., Topeka, Kan.

Before passing judgment folks, you can read the column by Bill Simmons.  You may agree or not with him  but for me, as a NBA fan, he makes sense.... ;D ;D

I always find Simmons entertaining to read. However he does not know basketball one-tenth as much as he does baseball.

I think the Mavs beat themselves as much as the Heat beat them.

On hindsight, a Spurs-Heat Finals would have been more entertaining. Duncan vs Shaq... Parker and Manu vs the Heat's backcourt... and at least Bruce Bowen would have done a better job on Wade, and may command more respect from the refs, as compared to a Devin Harris/Daniels who get whistled everytime they touch the guy.

I saw Mark Cuban in the court applauding amidst the wild celebration of Heat players...at least he's a sport.  I just don't know what he'll have in his blog though, hehehe.  8)

Congrats to the Heat for playing good team basketball and winning the 2K6 NBA championship. Wade was awesome and deserved the Finals MVP trophy.

Dallas is still a young team, and all this experience will no doubt make them a better team.

Sana LAkers-Heat next year sa championship. LOL

about hack-a-shaq --

from Stever Kerr's column:

"ADJUSTMENT OF THE GAME

With 2:05 to go and Miami up 89-85, the Heat were preparing to take the ball out of bounds when Avery Johnson screamed at his team to wrap up O'Neal and send him to the line. (The Hack-a-Shaq strategy can't be used with less than two minutes left in the game). So as his team prepared to inbound the ball, Riley saw the Dallas plan, called timeout and got Shaq out of the game."

another interesting observation by Steve:

"CALL OF THE GAME

Mavericks fans will talk about this one for a long time. With Dallas trailing by one point and 26 seconds to go, Wade dribbled around a screen and clearly threw his arm out into Nowitzki's chest. Nowitzki was called for the foul, however, sending Wade to the line where he made both free throws. Had the call gone the other way, we could be talking about a Game 7. Instead, the Heat hung on for the win – and the championship."

so if Wade touches you, you'll get called by a foul.  hehehe.   ;D
