Speaker Clearance for PC Monitors
« on: May 09, 2006 at 12:12 PM »
I have a pair of bookshelf speakers that came with a mini-component. I put these speakers on the floor to avoid the monitor that rests on top of my desk. Unfortunately, I'm not that satisfied with the sound since the speakers aren't designed for the floor.

Now, I want to put these speakers on top of my table which looks like one of those office tables. The estimated clearance between the monitor and the speakers would be 8 inches at both sides. I don't think these speakers are magnetically shielded so I'm cautious in putting these speakers on top of my desk.

Is it safe to put them on top of the desk?

you can try to place the speaker near the monitor then move it until you cannot see the color alteration. but be cautious i dont know if this can destroy your monitor but tried it myself notting bad happened.

I tried it. Unfortunately, a foot of clearance still has some effects. I guess I'll stick with with headphones for the time being. I don't want to risk my monitor.

Btw. What shielded speakers do you recommend. I mainly use it for music since I'm not into games.

Yup, I'd also recommend the Klipsch Promedia series. Although a bit pricey, they're great for both music and games.

BTW, where did you connect your bookshelf speakers?
