She gives where the credit is due, and she's a fan of the LOTR also.

I'm really tempted to make my way to CCP to catch any of the screenings... but I'm hoping Cinemalaya will be bringing the film festival to UP Film Center...

I don't see her giving credit to Lav. And being a LOTR fan ain't exactly a recommendation for me. I thought she liked literature; what on earth is she doing grooving to Tolkien?

She's bias on the LOTR, man, and she doesn't hide it. Maybe she's the greatest fan of Tolkien. And yeah, she gives credit not on Lav Diaz but on the camp of Gosiengfiao.

I'm very eager to see her review on ORO PLATA MATA. She raves on BATANG WEST SIDE, Noel.

She raves on Batang West Side? I'd like to see that review. Far as I know, she walked out of the first screening, panned it the second time she saw it.  Could be wrong, but that's what I remember.

I didn't know that she walked out, Noel. She wrote a short review/comments on her book, maybe she changed her mind about it after she watched it again on FLIP Movie Club.

BTW, my mistake, Lav Diaz is still in the U.S. Got an email from the man, himself.

That's what I'm not sure about. I think I did read that and that she still had serious reservations.

That said, has she been silent about Ebolusyon (I assume no one's seen Heremias outside of a festival)? I don't read her, so I don't know.

Just came from the 10:00 am screening of SAAN NAGTATAGO SI HAPPINESS. I was a chance moviegoer because tickets were already sold out just like last night's screening.

This film will be the MAXIMO & BIG TIME of this year's fest. Its very funny, heart-warming, bring your hanky before you see the finale. The feeling that all people are seeking for, is here! Nanette Inventor and Rez Cortez are brilliant in this film. Its the best dramedy that I've ever seen in any Filipino movie.

The "patak patak" dance sequence is hilarious! DONSOL & CAVITE are conflict on my watch lists. Both are to be shown at 3:30 pm.

SAAN NAGTATAGO SI HAPPINESS & DONSOL are the top crowd drawer during the filmfest. DONSOL will be screened at 3:30 pm and 11:00 pm today.

Back to CCP.

Caught the screenings of DONSOL & TULAD NG DATI.

DONSOL is a visual treat! Its nice to see a film exploring again the beauty of our countryside. Sid Lucero as the young whaleshark guide is excellent as he falls in love to Angel Aquino who came to DONSOL to find solace and recover from the death of her husband. Angel is always a pleasure to watch for, those quiet and restrain moments with her are compelling and powerful. Loved the stunning cinematography of the movie. Splashy and memorable debut of Adolfo Alix, Jr.

Mike Sandejas' TULAD NG DATI has got to be the most high energy and applauded movie I've seen so far after SAAN NAGTATAGO SI HAPPINESS. The movie rocks! The band composed of Jett Pangan, JB Leonor, Francis Reyes, Buddy Zabala proves that they can act. Although the movie was focused more on Jett Pangan who wakes up from a coma after 1988 with no memory at all, it chronicles the music and story of the band.

Its nice to reminisce the music of the band who rose to fame in 1986. Sighted during the screening were THE DAWN, Laurice Guillen clapping and enjoying the envelope ideas segment where the band sang again their signature hit song, Behn Cervantes. The movie was enjoyable, its not the best among the bunch but Sandejas is a talent to watch out for.

Dude you were there? Sayang 10:00 am pa ko nasa CCP to catch all the films! I didn't notice that you had some problems on the sounds, it rocks, man!

I was seated beside Laurice Guillen and Behn Cervantes. Both were enjoying and clapping on the movie especially the envelope ideas segment! After the screening of SAAN NAGTATAGO SI HAPPINESS, I chat with Mark Meily, he was with his wife Lee. And Mark was wearing shorts and carrying books, para mapagkamalang student daw! Hahaha!  ;D

THE DAWN were mobbed after the screening.  :D

Was Mike Sandejas the husband of Agot Isidro, edboy? I think Christine Jacob's hubby came from Sandejas clan also.  ;)

Road Runner did an excellent job once again, edboy! Congrats! To those who missed Cinemalaya at the CCP, you are missing 1/2 of your life. Tomorrow is the last day, catch it if you can! The atmosphere at CCP is so good, looks like you came from festival abroad.

I'll try to catch all the films again at UP Film Center. I'm placing my bet for DONSOL to bag the Best Pic for tonight's awards night.

Any winners from DONSOL and SAAN NAGTATAGO SI HAPPINESS?

You should see SAAN NAGTATAGO SI HAPPINESS its the best dramedy I've ever seen since MAGNIFICO.

When Kidlat Tahimik went up the stage to deliver his speech, (quite eloquently, I must add. He could be a VO or narrator) he stripped his pants to reveal a bahag! He also announced that he would be giving out a personal prize--the bamboo camera award--to his fave film after the ceremonies. The winner? Saan Nagtatago si Happiness

I've my sentiments on Tulad ng Dati but I believe the film deserved the best pic.

The films at CINEMALAYA certainly deserves a wider audience.

TULAD NG DATI is a major breakthrough for Mike Sandejas, the cast playing themselves is sometimes difficult to achieve, but he pulls it off since some of the best and witty lines were delivered among the four friends and they can act. Most of the screen was filled up by Jett Pangan but each one of the band members excelled on their own. Buddy Zabala as the easy-going member of the band was at his best delivering the punchlines in the movie, Francis Reyes who plays the guitar is comically hilarious and can turn into a future comedian, JB Leonor, also came out very well in his screen debut. The scene at the cemetery with Jett Pangan visiting Teddy Diaz is one of the heartbreaking scenes in the movie, and no one can live without the music of THE DAWN if you are inclined to the New Wave genre during the 80's. Envelope ideas emerged from 1986 and became their first hit, SALAMAT still embodies the song of my youth, full of bonding and friendship, uncertainties, insane, crazy feeling that flourished during my high school days. The band showdown scene is a nostalgia trip down memory lane straight from the 80's!

TULAD NG DATI is more than a concert movie. It has reflections and life's simple pleasure to forget the past and move on.
