never send a 1080p signal to 720p panel.

...why never?  ::)

Some older panels cannot accept 1080p signal - and will give you an on-screen error message. Thus, this wouldn't hurt your panels's circuitry in any way.

Some newer 786p panels can accept 1080p signal - and will be downscaled to native resolution.

O nga pala, I just want to ask kung pano ba paganahin yung tele text or text function.
Applicable ba yun sa mga local cable broadcasts natin? I am on sky cable btw.

cause sending a 1080p signal to a 720p would result in downscaling which may degrade image quality.

now, the only exception is if you got a 1080p source (ex. bluray/hd dvd player) then for this you will need to see if think the downscaler of the player or the tv is better...

Just to clarify, yung 55k promo only applies to 32u300a not the 32v300a.

I bought the 32v300a at a well disounted price.

Western (Beside Park Square I) offers 32u300a @ 47k cash + HT and Wireless headphone. Although, I'm eyeing for 32v300a, sana lang something close to 50k yun price nya, baka pwede matawaran eh :)

Maganda sana yung 32d300a kaya lang I'm sure malayo price range nya sa U and V series.

1080p ready but the panel is not a full hd panel. so 1080p signals will be downscaled to either 720p or 1080i

Sony Bravia "D" series
« Reply #109 on: Oct 16, 2007 at 01:41 PM »
anyone of you guys bought this version? if yes, what can you say about the picture quality? is the 10 bit panel, motionflow technology and 24p true cinema really a good step up compared to the "V" series? i was able to see a test unit 40" on avant trinoma and i can really see the motionflow effect and 24p true cinema on particular test videos like swat, hellboy and spiderman 3... i was really amazed at what i saw, the images seemed lifelike as if you were watching it from a live handycam shoot... the settings of motion compensation can be adjusted thru the television menu and it has high, standard and off options, in my case i tried the high setting so the details really seemed realistic and lifelike, just to make things clear though that the motionflow is not active all throughout the video, it activates during scences which involves drastic movements. sadly, i have just recently bought a 32" V-series bravia last 2 weeks ago :( i should have waited for this unit to be available so i have purchased this instead of the V series.

Unit Sony 32D300 was demoed to me side by side vs Sony 32V300 by the salesman in the appliance fair at Trinoma.  The salesman even used the Matrix 3 movie action scenes but I hardly noticed any difference even in fast moving scenes.

maybe the setting of the motion flow is set to standard or off that is why you did not notice any difference. in order to see the full effect, it should be set to high... but for me, i am not impressed by this technology because it makes me dizzy to watch scenes change in speed from time to time because of motion flow. but i can say that the PQ of the 32V300 and 32D300 is almost identical, and sometimes i find the PQ of the V series sharper and better in black scenes compared to the latter.. i for one own a 32V300 and i am indeed very happy with my LCD TV.

my take on this:

1. Maganda
2. Mahal

you can buy a lot more and/or better gear with the same amount of money.

Based on SONY's latest catalog "Christmas Treasures":

KLV-46D300A P219,990
KLV-40D300A P169,990
KLV-32D300A P119,990

The D-Series is only HD Ready (not FULL HD 1080p). Thus in view of the above prices, I do agree with Tonmeister. It's really over price. With the same budget (e.g. 220k) you could get FULL HDTV such as Panasonic or Samsung with size 46" costing around 150k.

Then you can use the saved amount 70k to get the latest HD DVD/Blu-ray player and also HDMI 1.3 AV receiver that can decode all the HD  audios: Dolby TrueHD & DTS-HD Master Audio. Perhaps, there is some balance fund that can be used for other equipment/gear/accessories. Killing 2 birds with one stone...sweet!! :)

But if you're a true SONY fan & have the moolah....then you've arrived at the right place.  ;)

SONY BRAVIA LCD TV Owners Thread (Share Experiences, Settings, Problems)
« Reply #119 on: Dec 04, 2007 at 11:29 AM »
I recently purchased a Sony Bravia KLV-32V300a at SM San Lazaro for 65k, the package consisted of a free home theatre and a wireless infra red headset... medyo naging impulsive ang pagkakabili ko sa unit kasi may tag kasi na hanggang on that day lang yung sale price, i did not know that the same package can be bought at other stores like westen appliance and abenson at a much lower price... after 1 month of use my unit had a dead pixel at the lower left side of the screen, what i did was i called up sony service center at 3301111 and on that same day, they sent a sony technician to have a look at my unit. He took a picture of the dead pixel for his report and got my warranty card and store receipt. The next day, they picked up the tv from my house and replaced it's panel but after 1 week of use the dead pixel showed up again this time on the middle part of the screen... they apologized for the inconvenience and this time coordinated with SM San Lazaro and replaced my unit with a brand new one!!! Upon replacement, i purchased a 2 year warranty extension which costed me 11,500 bucks but hey it is also important to note that the LCD part alone when replaced costs 38,000 bucks so the price that i have payed for insurance is just to give me a peace of mind for 3 years considering the fact that my bravia already got a dead pixel in 1 month of use. I have been using my Tv for 2 weeks now and have no problems so far, i have connected my laptop, ps2, dvd player etc. to test it excessively for another hardware deficiency and maybe i can get it replaced again with a brand new one hehehe  ;D

Now to talk about the settings, for video i use the vivid setting... the standard and cinema setting seems low in contrast for me, what i want is that i can see the image very clearly as if i was realistically looking at it in real life hehe. Now there is a setting there that i can't remember the name, it is supppose to make videos from dvd players appear more vivid and i set it to on. most important of all is to turn on the light sensor, not only does it conserve energy at night, it also tune the brightness automatically to give a good pictures in dark scenes at brightly lit rooms. I did not tinker with the power saver settings since the light sensor is already enough to automatically adjust the LCD's backlight. all other settings are default.

I bought a pioneer dv-600 upscaling player to pair with my TV, the unit is able to output 1080p upscaled videos as shown on the TV's upper left part of the screen which shows a few seconds after i start my dvd video. I have HDMI connection and the videos produced was very vivid and had a good black in dark scenes, by the way i set the dv-600 to full RGB setting to improve picture clarity.

To others with sony bravias post here your unit's model and comments, so that we could help each other enjoy our LCD's even more and maximize its full potential.
