Anime you'd like to see on DVD
« on: Dec 05, 2001 at 05:10 PM »
Not all Anime titles that we like are on DVD.
What titles would you like to be mastered to DVD?

I'd like to see the following on DVD:

1. The Guyver
2. The complete Crying Freeman series
3. Galaxy Express 999
4. Danguard Ace
5. Mazinger Z (I think the Great Mazinga series is already available in Hong Kong-made DVDs that are in Japanese with English subtitles. I saw some at C.A.T.S. in Virra Mall.)
6. The original Getter Robo series
7. UFO Grendaizer
8. Jeeg the Steel Robot
9. Gaiking
10. Astroboy

Nice to see the same guys from the other Anime-related forums!

Paltik -- the anime was many times better (not to mention far more violent).  :)

Not to mention raunchy. I think that it's the only gray-area anime out there, placed in between you average anime and hentai. Kinda like an art film.

I'm not sure if it was Bandai or Pioneer who recently got the DVD rights for Crying Freeman which was originally released by Streamline Pictures. DVD to come out next year daw.

On Crying Freeman, the anime was not only more violent but also had "hentai" scenes!
;D

I was able to copy the first 3 episodes on VHS two years ago. They were already English-dubbed. It must have been a US production, so I don't understand why it's taking so long to come out on DVD.

I don't remember the site anymore since my PC here at work's been replaced twice but I was able to find Nausicaa on DVD online. The source was in Hong Kong. It's actually a box set of Miyazaki's works (ie. Princess Mononoke, Laputa, Totoro, Kiki's Delivery Service, Porco Roso, etc) and it's priced at US$88 as far as I can remember.

since most have been mentioned already, i'd like to include some other great robots (of my time  ;D) into the list:

- Balatac
- Mikanda Robot
- Voltron (lions, not the cars)

nobody mentioned daimos probably because of the cheezy love angle between richard and erica.  :P

I'm watching the DVD version of Nausicaa right now.  I downloaded it last year, but only was able to view it tonight.  Awesome looking on my RPTV.

There's a good R3 copy being sold. No english dub, perfectly written english subtitles, the problem is any extras will have chinese subtitles only. I'll ask a friend (who bought a couple of these R3 Miyazakis) how much he got em for.

I'd like to see Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind.  I think there's already an R2 dvd w/ english subs.  There are 3 different versions with price ranging from $30 for the standard edition (w/c i think is already sold out) all the way up to $200 for the limited edition.   :o
