SQ? I can't really say since I haven't compared it to a different receiver of the SAME wattage. If I remember correctly, the 507 is 75watts/ch. It's probably ok for satellites.

I replaced it with a denon 1910 which to me, sounded "cleaner/softer" to the ear and had more impact/punch than the 507. Probably due to the higher wattage.

the 507 is not comparale to the 1910 actually as 1910 is already in the middle of the pack, this is actually pitted agains 606/607 and yammy 663, the four more or less have the same features wiht plus or minueses over the other

for a starter, the 507 is not a bad receiver specially if your not into those upscaling thing, even using floor staders or bs, the 507 will not dissapoint, you just need to get speakers that has a higehr sensitivity, atleast the way i understood thing as people are saying 90db sensitivity are easiser to drive( iwould have to leave response to further query on this to our HT gurus as as i can not go deeper in the explanation anymore). if your room is not that big and is working on a budget, then 507 is the way to go but if you have an extra juice to extract, you may want to consider the 606, 607 price range is from around 30k to 32 k perhaps. the post above for sale the 605 is actaully a very good option, the 507 would only cost as much. by the way, if you will try to reaserach, you would see that the Onkyo605 is one of the most sough after eceiver when it was relased getting 5 start rating and product of the year award from hat hifi magazine. you might want to pm or call the seller and give it an audition.

good luck  on yor hunt

Based on my experience, speaker sensitivity doesn't really matter when matching components. Even if one speaker has a higher sensitivity over the other, I'd still pick an amp that will overpower or at least match the maximum RMS rating of the driver to get the most out of it.

Every speaker has it's own distinct sound. Speaker A (sensitivity 92db) may sound louder vs Speaker B (senistivity 86db) off a 75 watt amp but, louder doesn't necessarily equate to being better.

Hi Beefy, may I ask what speakers you were driving with the 507, which sounded better with the 1910? The 1910 is rated at 90 watts per channel (versus 75 watts for the 507). Looks like the 15-watt difference does have some impact.

I'm using energy speakers rated at 100 watts RMS. The 15 watt difference had a really noticable difference, but then again, it was a different receiver. I could have given a better conclusion if I changed to a higher wattage AVR of the same brand.

The 608's aren't out yet locally. Are you talking about the Dolby PLIIx? I don't see why not

The 605 has dplIIx but cannot matrix lossless audio. I believe THX Select2 can add surround back channels to lossless audio.

Now that my stash of AVRs are almost gone, i just took a bite on the older onkyo 875 over the newer but lower model onkyo rc-180. Im always a believer that older but higher model would perform better than the new but lower models. The 875 is only a few bucks expensive than rc-180. I guess I wouldnt need the new dolby PLz because most of my movies are encoded in DTS, DD & lossless codecs thru blu-ray disc. Kaya lang darating pa lang one-month from now. Excited na ako.  ;D ;D

being an owner of the HT RC180, the best feature I like about this is actually the Audyssey DSX, although magastos nga lang because you need to get at least 7 speakers, 5 of them sa front namely the front, the front wide and the center. at syempre it cost lower ;D

with reference sa binanggit ni brader raul(nogie) the 875 is mean becasue of the power it has not to mention its ULTRA2 THX certified versus mine that is a tad lower, select 2 certified only.

congrats sir raul sa bagong padating ;)

^ I'm inclined to get the RC-180 pero nakatsamba yong brod ko ng open box na 875 na halos parehas ang presyo. I'm always longing for this mean receiver if I can get it at the right price. Ayun nakatsamba sa wakas. I hope i made the right decision.  ;)  ;)

you will never go wrong with the 875 brader raul. this is where preference would come in, i have been fascinated with the dsx set up since hearing it so i made the right decision i getting the 180, in your case, you have always been fascinated by the pwoer of the amp side and the less compliction so the 875 suite your preference well., the 875 packs power and has some features that are not present sa 180 plus i like the fascia design, it looks meaner that the new models of onkyo 180, 807 up to the TOTL 5007 all look the same and i like the way 875 looks way better than the rest

When will the 08 models come out?  It was recently released in the US and I think, Singapore.  Some AV stores don't have stocks of the 607 anymore and are suggesting to wait for the 608.  Hopefully will be released in our market soon.

Quick technical question to all. The Onkyo 807 was benchmarked and these were the following results:

HT Labs Measures
Five channels driven continuously into 8-ohm loads:
0.1% distortion at 105.5 watts
1% distortion at 122.0 watts

Since my RX speakers are a 6-ohm load, what could I assume would be the wpc output for five channels driven continuously for 6 ohms?

That's also true... there's pro & con for each situation. For some buyers the added cost for peace of mind is certainly worth it. :)

Where did anyone quote 38k for the 607?  Note that most prices initially given by shops are SRP.  They would be subject to 10-20 percent discount at most audio video shops.  The 606 and the 607 has always been at the 28-30k range @ cash.

Wife is buying me the Onkyo 608 in Hong Kong in return I buy her an iPad. I would rather purchase a HK model TBH. My HK 605 came with full Asia warranty. From what I have experienced, Philippines warranties are not worth wiping your butt crack with. Just need to confirm that the 608 will matrix Loss less audio.

You have any idea how much the 608 will be in HK?  How do you plan to ship it back to manila?  Di ba medyo mabigat yan for air freight?  Am thinking about going to HK too.
