Mixed Martial Arts Thread : UFC - PRIDE - K1 - URCC
« on: Jul 30, 2002 at 05:23 PM »
One cable channel, I think SOLAR, is showing UFC Fights. Kaya lang masyadong delayed. They started from UFC 1. Last episode was UFC 6 featuring Ken Shamrock and a certain Dan Severn (also a UFC champ) dubbed as Superfight.

I also happen to borrow a VHS copy of UFC ? (forgot na) that featured Vitor Belfort. Hanep manuntok ang mama, tulog ang kalaban nyang kasinlaki ng bakulaw.

Will be glad to hear from those who watches UFC

Cheers!!!

Hehehe. I watch this show together with my boys (hubby and son). Can't say I really enjoy it. But one time, this fight between this kick-boxer whatever guy (who according to the hubby, loves to lock opponents until they cannot breathe) and this wrestler....the fight took some 30 minutes, the kick-boxer guy was pinned down by this wrestler, all the while he was trying to lock him or something. You'd think talo na si kick-boxer but, no, he actually won the belt or whatever it is you call it.

That match was pretty exciting. It was three weeks ago I think. I've been tuning to  it since. I don't know why.   :-[  Solar nga, Saturday mga around 9 PM.  ;D  Anyway, are there really NO RULES in that game?

The show was banned before right?

Wow UFC in cable?? Cool Royce Gracie is still the man on top in terms of UFC Titles and Discipline JUJITSU.

Unfortunately UFC sunk down to ratings and exitement in US after adding Rules which what used to be an almost No Rule/No Holds Barred Fight.

Vitor Belfort was great unfortunately at UFC 12 I think he was beaten by an American Grappler

Actually, natyempuhan ko 'to after watching F1 Qualifying. UFC is  shown every other Saturday (just like F1 qualifying sked). But this time, hindi na sila sabay kasi hindi nag-break ang F1 last weekend. If i'm not mistaken, UFC is suppose to have their next episode this Saturday (August 3).

Just want to ask... do you feel the intensity after watching the fights? 'yung tipong pagtayo mo sa silya napapa-suntok ka sa hangin at napapa-porma ng karate... ;D

Cheers!!!

I hear ya there friend!  I happened to chance on one of the fights before (Shamrock was fighting some guy).  Anyway, intensity wise, I feel like watching a rematch or Tyson and Holyfield (if it ever would've come true).  Napapatalon ako minsan eh.

UFC's Peak was way back in 94-95 then around 97 it went to boredom as Cable providers would not show it in Pay per view because of extreme violence. That is why the rules were change and the violence has slowed down up to present UFC.

Some UFC like events which you could check in home videos are:

1. Japan's Pride
2. Pancreas Wrestling Japan
3. Brazilian Jujitsu tournament

Medyo. ;D

That fight I saw about three weeks ago...don't know who they are basta, they were both on the floor, one is pinned down by the other. I was trying to pretend-kick sa hangin, kasi ang tagal ng naka-pin nung gusto kong manalo e...I felt I was also under pressure to win. ;D...Sira.

Anybody willing to have their UFC tapes copied? I'm looking for old UFC matches, the more violent ones. The ones with less rules.

My friend UFC is horrible to tell you the truth. They lost all their true talent to PRide (Japanese version of UFC). In pride you will see the best matches and the best fighters in mixed martial arts form. People truly get beaten up and submit. If there isn't any action they make them stand up again for another ass beating. You have to be in you peak physical level to compete in Pride. The prized Gracie family all of them have lost in Pride to only one guy. Kazushi Sakuraba. Which in return lost to the current Champion Vanderlei Silva. His technique is awesome I met with the guy in the states and Chute Boxe (Muay thai high breed with brazillian jujitsu). Pride is what you watch for Mixed martial arts and if you want pure striking watch K1 grand prix. I have a lot of tapes of both nga eh. I even have the annual Pride versus K1 where both organizations collide. I'm really up to date pa cause my friend from Japan comes back every month and keeps on taping the stuff for me  ;D

I'm fine with copying pre. No prob. You can buy orig of the famous Sakuraba vs. Royce gracie fight in virra mall ground floor it's like 3 dvd thing. But that fight was two years back. The one I pray to God I can see is the greatest gracie of this generation Rickson but he wants over 1 million dollars to fight sakuraba. That is most unlikely. Mas lalo na ngayon na natalo si sakuraba kay Vanderlei Silva the man who just massacres everybody. That guy is a monster in the ring but he's a real friendly guy in person !!!  ;D Dude if you're starting out with pride you've missed out a lot already. This stuff is really big in Japan since they pay really high and the athletes involved are treated like heroes in public all the best talent fight there and are contracted. Imagine 60000 watching pride every event. That's twice more than an NBA game in the US. I don't have copies of previous you should score sa virra mall even in squadron. My stuff is all updated and the more recent fights. I have every tape where sakuraba got his ass kicked by Vanderlei Silva. Anyways just give me a price and hopefully your tape na rin. By the way there are a lot of commercials etc for the pride tapes they were taped off Japanese TV.

PRIDE. Nuff said. If you don't know about it get to. cause you guys are missing prime talent big time. All the best are there. The shamrocks are there the gracies and the whole entire Mixed martial Arts community. It's the highest stage of competition. If you can wait na rin later this year sa PS2 Pride will ahve their own game  ;D

Pride for Mixed Martial arts. K1 for striking. Choose whatever tickles your pickle. And every once year the two orgs go up against eachother PRide versus K1. That's the really cool thing about it all. Those are only the two for reality combat. Of course you have pro wrestling there but everybody knows that's fixed  ;D

Can't remember the price but it doesnt bother me i get all the new stuff every 2 months. So it's cool Pride and K1 are the championest. I'll tape you 2 k1'a and one pride cause it seems liek you want more striking.  ;Dor if you want one pride one k1 and one k1 versus pride.

Been watching UFC the last couple of Saturday nights, and was wondering if you guys could fill me in on a little history leading to this year? Alam ko delayed yung UFC that airs on Solar by 5 years, tama ba?  I checked the website and UFC is now at around the 40th installment. Shamrock seems to still be around, but whatever happened to Gracie, Tank Abbott, Coleman, and especially Victor Belfort? Did he retire? Did Belfort ever fight Shamrock and the other legends? And who is the greatest UFC fighter?

Tanx. ;D

Tito Ortiz vs. Ken Shamrock
Just saw this kanina sa wowow..

I was flinching everytime Ortiz uses his dreaded knee strikes upon the defenseless Shamrock..

Tito may be a punk but he does back his trash talk with serious @$$-kicking!!

I feel for Ken... if this was done 8 years ago I think he had a chance but now...

Ortiz had his way and Shamrock's mug showed the proof.. ;D

UFC40-Vendetta was a sure cool Show!

I agree dude if it was done 8yrs ago..definitely Bad Boy Tito Ortiz is up for a beating..

Give credit also to Ken Shamrock despite the brutal beating induced from Ortiz he still did not tap out, stood up from take down and did not even knocked out.

ref Big John was great to stop imemdiately the fight after three groundpounding beating to shamrock

next Stop for Ortiz... Iceman Lidel!

For Ken.. better retire and go back to WWF
