Dude... Antonio "Nino" Schembri is not a lucky SOB.. hehe... hes one the the best bjj artists ... idol of even Bj penn...that was just his 3rd fight.. you should see his bjj matches.. one of the most exciting people to watch.. amazing flexibility and non stop submissions... Whats funny is he won by a strike. actually a  knee to the face .. thats only his 3rd nhb fight..  you can get rickson fights in squadron .. get japan vale tudo... or get the choke video(documentary of his life and behidn the scenes of japan vale tudo early 90's pa tong mga to) to see how rickson really is ..i have a tape where rickson spars his students non stop.(around 50+rnds..). tapping each one of them in secs.. thats around over an hour grappling.. ...

Color me red..  :-[  Just a Sak fan, that's all..  ;D

hey guys, also starting to be a Sakuraba fan myself.hehe. That royce vs sakuraba fight was one of the most entertaining fight that I have seen.I can see why pinapalakpakan si sak.hehe.Galing ng mga antics niya like putting his whole head out of the ropes so royce cant grapple him well (octagon is still the best), resting his head on the corner, smiling at the camera during the fight, etc. But honestly he has some great moves and man he was just playing with royce. He was just pushing him around and his stamina is remarkable!Saw some past Sak fights but was not impressed but I am now!

Hope to see the Schembri fight soon.

Well, if you have just saw Ultimate Japan 1. You will see the real color of Sakuraba.

I guess the guy cant stand losing. He was like mad as hell when John Mc Carthy stopped the fight and awarded it to Conan Silveria.

Good Thing Tank was not bale to reach the finals of UFC JAPAN and the two (Conan & Sakuraba) repeat their fight.. FYI the first encounter was decide as a No Contest.. Geez... well teh fight itslef ended Sakuraba winning UFC Japan

Hey Xage..

Big John made a mistake.. Sak was shooting for the leg when he stopped it..  that's why fight was ruled a no-contest... anyway sak showed him in the finals who's boss...  ;D

They showed 1st part of the URCC last saturday.2nd part will be this coming saturday.Nag dub na lang sila Alvin Aguilar and Quinito Henson for the commentary.

Sakuraba's fight with igor was unbelievable!Meron pa siyang lakas noon.If it was an even match, talo yang si igor.Parang ang bilis nawalan ng stamina.Mark Coleman's striking abilities and stamina improved a lot with this pride fight.Sobrang lakas talaga taong yan and with his improved stamina now, he can achieve more.

They advertised URCC 2 live in philsports arena april 12 sat 7:30.Tickets available in any red corner outlet.

URCC. Oks na rin, kesa naman sa Pinoy Wrestling  ;D... ang layo!!!
Elf, are you going to watch URCC 2 in Philsports?

PrideFC. I was able to watch Coleman and the Japanese. Grabe si Coleman, when the referee is trying to break them, he was shouting "What?... What?...Bullcrap... Bullcrap" hehehehe. can you imagine him yelling at you like that...

K-1. It was a K-1 galore last night. Greatest Knockouts and K-1 USA 2000. Hanep yung mga knockouts, birit na birit talaga ang mga suntok, talagang knockout.

... somehow, I miss UFC.

UFC vs. Pride ... for me, UFC.... the Octagon.
UFC vs. K-1    ... it's obvious - K-1.

Cheers!!!

compaq,
Yes I will watch urcc 2.Bibili na ko ng ticket sa squadron or red corner agad para wala ng excuses like yong sa tracma, i was supposed to go to the venue and just buy there.Hey guys baka puede tayo magkita lahat doon para magkakilala na rin either before/after or gusto niya magsama na tayo sa isang row.Mdsaint3, Papi, dragon, compaq, xage, all other pinoydvd fight fans. what you say? ;D

Si Mark kala ko mag walkout, na warning pa agad.hehe.He was definitely the better fighter.

crap na miss ko K1 last sunday.

Just watched pride 8.Sak vs. Royler? Gracie.Talo na naman gracie.Woohoo!Controversial pa.I assume na somebody else stopped the fight other than gracie's corner because they were complaining afterwards(in jap kasi). If you would look at the key lock Sak was applying, the usual and I'm assuming the more painful technique was the other way around which means that the forearm should have been going under the elbow towards the thigh area.In Royler's case it was going to the head area but I guess if you bend it far enough the shoulders should pop. What do you think mdsaint3?

Yes Xage, I also had fun watching that bout, ('was rooting for the boxer). Grabe yung stamina nung boxer, a choke was applied to him... namumula na nga yung mukha, pero nakawala pa rin.

Quinito mentioned that he know the boxer, "Pinoy" pa nga daw ang pangalan dati, ngayon ay "Larry" na (forgot the surname).

Cheers!!!
Compaq

By the way, I added URCC in the Thread Title/Subject (kahit paminsan-minsan lang ang URCC)... :)

Finally got tickets for URCC 2 from Mojo Red Corner 75 Panay Ave.Anyone else going to watch?

Hey guys, meron free trial Brazilian Ju Jitsu training next thursday 6 p.m. in Mojo.I asked the receptionist,no obligations daw just bring your rubber shoes. ;D For a BJJ practice?hehe. If you guys wana try out, magaling yan, might go myself.Saw their gym, spacious ang boxing area sa ground floor but the 2nd floor gym is quite small. They also have amateur boxers to train you in boxing if that's your game.Medyo pricey lang nga.

URCC part 2 showed last night.Galing talaga yong last fighter with braids and the bald muay thai fighter that opted for pure strikes against the helpless opponent. Also the former pro boxer that trained in DEFTAC, nice punches.I think one has to learn boxing to get the correct punch and stance for striking.

Replay Pride.Solar naman what are you doing?

saw the tape... haha..ur right dragon sleeper nino was one lucky sob.. he was getting creamed by sak .. nino couldnt take him down.. then sak tried to do his pompyang fpj move.. nino got him in a clinch then kneed him... haha..then in the post fight interview he said..."they didnt know elvis was a karate black belt"..hahah.. nino is an elvis fanatic.. with patilla and all...he still believes elvis is alive...  but he really is a solid grappler... its just that sak is so hard to take down.. thats his advantage over the other good grapplers he beat.. so im sorry again dragon you are right he is one lucky sob..hehe

Sak in his prime would not be caught with that knee... wala na talaga, on the downside na...  :(

Well if Nino likes Elvis... he couldn't be that bad...  ;D fan din ako ni "The King"

The URCC 2 last Saturday was a phenomenal success in my opinion. The fights were great, there was not much delay in the starting of the event and 90% of the fighters were up to par.The 10% seem to not know what a NHB competition is.If one is a striker then learn some counters on grappling and vice versa. This is already the standard operating procedure. But congratulations to all the fighters that showed up (there was one fighter who did not show ;D).Stepping into the ring is half the battle.Takes courage to do that. Sayang si Larry (boxer), nanalo siya URCC1.Natalo siya this time.Choked out if I remember right.Si Cobra din was knocked out when his head was slammed into the ring. That was one of the better fights. The Ifugao wrestler who did JKD/Yaw Yan style of kicking was really awesome and lightning fast!

*Here's my comments from PEX*
Quote
Negative comments muna regarding URCC2 baka makalimutan ko.Positive naman bukas. But there was definitely more pluses than minuses this time around.I would say the competition improved a lot.

(according to one of the Pekiti Tirsia Manila Pitbull member, Nico is only 185 lbs. and not 210 lbs.)
Not to be biased but I agree with Veynn. I was looking at Nico and comparing size with TJ.He was definitely lighter than stated. Not only that some of the fighters looks like they were fighting in different weight classes.Like the one with the kung fu style hair and another really thin guy. They were like under their weight class. If Nico was 185 then he is middleweight in UFC classification and TJ obviously heavy weight.Maybe the PTK guys can enlighten us bakit pumayag sa ganitong setup where weight, aside from skill and stamina is one of the major factors.

The officiating of I think only 2 fights were questionable wherein the referee stopped the fight too soon and let them continue.Bullcrap is what I say.The officiating could be improved.Maybe get somebody who actually has MMA experience. The referee who was also in URCC 1 is supposed to be a Judo brown belt right?PAJA does not allow brown belts to officiate in any kind of match.Only blackbelts.I could be wrong though.

About the rules of fighting gear. They had to take of Larry's rubbershoes in the ring.He was obviously not informed that it had to be barefoot. Then there was this guy who went to the ring without gloves and had to be fitted there. He lost a few seconds after.

Maybe somebody with access to the URCC rules can post it here so we all can comment if there were illegal actions in the ring.Did not see any elbows or blows to the back of the head or kicks to head when the fighter was down.

Bukas post ko din good points which definitely out weighs the negative by a big margin. Over all very good event. The fighters this time much more well versed in their styles.Cant keep what happend to Cobra out of my mind.Siya yong boxer na pinaikot a air right?Pag land niya knockout na.Tulog.Grabe galing ng kalaban.Forgot name.hehe. And like what BNG said Ifugao Wrestling rules!!! Grabe kicks!!!JKD ata yon ah.
Elf  8)

wwf collector,
TJ won the fight. The first minutes of the fight, Nico was pounding TJ left and right and the latter kind of look woobly but then TJ clinched Nico and took him down to the mat.He then continued to secure a full mount. While Nico was unable to turn TJ over, TJ pounded him till the ref stopped the fight.

Papi,
Any more insights pare?Behind the scenes?Cobra was brought out in a stretcher, how is he?What's his condition after the fight?
