Maganda daw, sabi ni sir gren:

Well, just sharing.

Was looking for a cheap-o 2 speaker deal that i can use in lieu of my receiver/5.1 speaker setup and i came across this gem:

The Edifier MP 210: http://www.edifier.ca/products/mp210/mp210.html

What attracted me initially is the dual power source feature.  This allows you to use a normal power adaptor as well as use your PC's USB for power (power, mind you, not input).  As i dug deeper (I came across a single review, and it was in another forum at that), i found that the kit used MDF wooden enclosure, as well as an aluminium cone. The piano black finish was something i never really cared for, not on phones, nor on speakers, but it does make give the set a more 'distinguished' appearance.

Soundwise: i'm surprised that the output this thing provides: it has decent highs and lows.  It provides good imaging (assuming you position them right) and projects a good sound stage.  Properly positioned, the speakers almost disappear.   It can get a little loud, especially at high volumes, but seeing i'm so close to my pc when i use them, i don't really pump up the volume to high levels.

for 1895, its not a bad buy.  It can almost be considered a 'portable' speaker set, owing to its compact size, and would make a good partner for your laptop or mp3 player.

Edifier makes a lot of other products readily available at Villman and Octagon (I think).  Haven't really tested the others as I'm not interested in another 2.1 system (I do fancy that Klispch GMX set, sounds really nice :)).  Just giving you guys a heads up on a possilble alternative to altec lansing (which i really dislike: cheapo build, expensive price and all).

Has anybody tried Edifier M1300?

P999.00 lang sa Villman.

The MP210 got good reviews in T3 Magazine awhile back. There's also a white version piano finish. I haven't seen one lately though.

I own an MP210 and my brother has the M1310 2.1 system too. I must say they are a good bunch of speakers for their low price.

I have found a good battery source for the MP210's which is built for iPods as an external power source. The USB plug of the MP210 fits perfectly on the external battery to power it up when on the go as the battery pumps out its juice at USB specifications.

I use the m1310 with my PC as well. Sulit na sulit. I compared it with Creative speakers with similar specs. I chose Edifier. Mas mura na, mas gusto ko pa yung tunog ;D

Got it from Ali Mall almost a year ago for 1k.

my 2 centavos:

i've been using the mp210(?), the tiny 2 channel speakers, and they're pretty nice.  bass aside, they're accurate and quite transparent, with decent mid to highs.  a bit expensive though at 2k.  if price isn't an issue, then go for these.

Edifier R2000DB

Bought this online for ₱9,100 (includes VAT and shipping). ₱8,899 was the SRP back in summer but it seems most sellers now have new stock and are priced at ₱10.5k up.

The plan is to use these for my DJ Controller and as speakers for my work and gaming PC's (same desk which I switch through using a KVM switch).

I was choosing between this, a Rokit 5, and Yamaha monitors with a 5" driver (forgot the model). I chose this one because it's cheap, has good reviews, and has bluetooth (not that I'm going to use it a lot but at least the option is there).

I'll unpack this tomorrow and post a PinoyDVD review.

Just got them out of the box this morning and started testing it out using Bluetooth + Spotify, YouTube Music, and FLAC (played via VLC).

Audio quality is more tuned towards a true balance on the frequencies as opposed to the usual bias for treble and bass on other bt speakers. Sounds warmer than I expected with almost no distortion on the higher volumes, which I didn't expect using Spotify and YouTube Music.

The clarity is just astounding for a set of speakers that has the word "Edifier" in it. I've tried Pearl Jam, Masego, EBTG, Dave Brubeck, and Strauss's Also Sprach Zarathustra. It sounds good on ALL of these. Spotify never sounded this clear.

This doesn't have the HiRes Audio certification but still tested some FLAC tracks from my phone and I would say this is probably even better than the Bose Soundtouch 30 bt speakers which cost 3x the price (an impulse buy a few years ago). The sound quality of the Bose, which is actually quite good, definitely doesn't match the R2000DB.  It's not even close.

In fact I don't know any Bluetooth speakers which can be better than these Edifiers in the ₱10k downwards budget.

I heard the S2000 Pro, also from Edifier, are even better than these for just a few thou more, so those could be worth a look too.

Won't have a chance to test the analog and optical inputs until later tonight. My expectations are certainly much higher now.

For my planned use case (PC speakers + DJ monitors), I really feel that the bass is adequate enough for my needs.

I would even venture to say that the musical sound quality would actually degrade if you add a sub to it.

However, if you plan to hook this up for home theater use, then a sub would be great.

Part Two: RCA audio- and optical-in test

Warm sound with really good vocal quality, slightly better treble response on the inputs than Bluetooth, which was already good in the first place. Really good clarity with some mild distortion on the last 2 volume notches, much more distortion than Bluetooth, which surprised me.

What's also surprising is that the sweet spot is much broader than what you'd expect from a small bookshelf speaker, leading me to believe that the initial design of the box and speaker angles were really designed for a tabletop and not necessarily as studio monitors. You don't have to sit where the speakers are aimed for the audio to sound good.

Btw, I don't have a record player but I have a strong feeling this would sound fantastic with LP's.

* - * - * - *

I was initially just looking for a decent pair of speakers for my desktop PC's and the occasional need for monitors on my home DJ setup. I really do feel that I got much more than that as the audio quality of these spreakers are superb.

It's not perfect, however, since the remote doesn't look good, speaker cables are proprietary (decent gauge, though), and the piano black finish is a fingerprint magnet.

Be that as it may, the audio quality is superb. These speakers sound so good that you'd think they'd be at the 20k or even 30k price range. Instead, you get a really good deal for ₱9,100, shipping included.

I have the non-bluetooth version of the R1700BT since 2014. So far they are still ok although I did have to glue back together the bottom part that got water damaged.
