ericag_ph's Links & Some Useful Information:

How I made my own 120 inch screen:
- I needed the perfect screen size for my use.
http://pinoydvd.com/board/index.php?topic=54791.0

Why I chose OPPO DVD Player:
- It upsamples your 480 resolution DVDs to 720p/1080i, and the result is WOW  :o
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00078GLJY/sr=8-1/qid=1153278825/ref=pd_bbs_1/002-6817108-4041610?ie=UTF8
http://www.consumersearch.com/www/electronics/dvd-players/reviews.html

Why I use ordinary AWG 12 electrical cord for speaker wires and not Monster* stuff:
- Monster* stuff are 10x more expensive, and they don't sound 10x better than electrical cord.
- I can't hear any difference anyway, so I'd rather spend the savings on something else.
http://groups.google.com.ph/group/alt.home-theater/browse_thread/thread/b66be7abf6cc17ff/a03bfab073b5331c?lnk=st&q=ericag_ph+lamp+cord&rnum=1&hl=en#a03bfab073b5331c
http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/volume_11_4/feature-article-blind-test-power-cords-12-2004.html

Why I chose Velodyne CHT-12R and not Wharfedale SW-300:
- I like the DSP modes, remote, and the fact I need a sub for 99% movies.
http://pinoydvd.com/board/index.php?topic=55822.msg601195#msg601195

Why I chose Wharfedale bipolar surrounds (DFS) rather than the regular Wharfedale monopole speakers (8.1 or 8.2):
- For this, I went with the manufacturer's recommendations (use bipolar), which seems to be the way to go anyway.
http://www.wharfedale.co.uk/range.php?range_id=14

Why I will never buy SONY again  >:(

Thanks,

The Wharfedales (P18K) sound about 2x better than the Bose (P40K+).
The Bose aren't that bad, they just don't sound as good.
When I use both together (A+B) they sound even better.

With the recent addition of the Velodyne, the sound improved even more :)

Thanks,

I bought at BLIMS, we've been waiting for this color to become available for 6 months, when it did, we bought 3 right away at P35K each.
I think the price has dropped to P28K if stock is available.  The only other light-color option before was yellow, and that isn't in stock anymore.
I chose this setup because the 3-seater sofa style, normally, you can't recline the middle seat....and that's the best seat when watching.

Thanks guys,

Actually na pag isipan na namin yan...glass, highly reflective, so you don't want that in a dark theater room (it's a distraction and will affect viewing pleasure) and since kita yung loob/laman ng cabinet, it will look messy/magulo sa mata (imagine removing the cabinet doors).
Pag kita mo palagi, it reminds you how much money you wasted :) so hindi ka maka relax.

The 3 wooden cabinets (2x 3m, plus the rack) cost us only P11K, custom made.

Wow, great setup. Congrats. Nice DVD cabinet. I just have a suggestion though. Mas maganda kung yung may glass yung cabinet doors. Para kahit nakasara, kita yung mga DVDs.  ;)

It's not a problem...it is accessible pa rin on the sides.  The chair sides are angled (it's constructed that way), so at the rear while seated, there is still some space for your arms to reach the levers.

Neat set-up there.   ;D  Just curious though, what are those Bose cubes doing there?  Are they in parallel with your wharfes?  Are your also using the Bose bass module with your Velo?  TIA

That's why I always question what a sales guy tells me and even assume he is 100% wrong.  I just hear his "sales pitch", then decide
based on all facts on hand by the time I decide to buy.  Most of them aren't even trained properly and don't even know their product (even prices), which is always right beside them, all day all week, considering it only takes me a few hours to a day to get all the facts/specs I need.

Example:

Customer:  I really really need/want one small pink balloon, do you have at least one in stock?

Bad sales guy:  No we don't sorry.
Bad sales guy, but helpful:  No we don't sorry, try the other shop.
Very bad sales guy:  No

Trained sales guy:  No we don't sorry, but we have a red balloon instead.
Good sales guy:  The one that made you buy the red balloon  ;D
Very good sales guy:  The one that made you buy 2 large red balloons and 1 small blue balloon and you're happy about it (upselling)

You'll notice trained sales people when ordering at Jollibee/McDonald's.

pwede pala :-[ sabi sa blims hindi daw eh :( naisahan ako nun mga yon ah >:( thanks sir

I used to run them in parallel with the Wharfedales... (A+B), right now I'm using them for front effects.
The center is in parallel with the Wharfedale... sound is boosted, I think the Yamaha can handle the impedance.

Notice no wires to the rear Bose  ;D

But I'll probably move the Bose when I get my 42" LCD in a couple of months.

There is hardly any noticeable bass from the Bose bass module  (during explosions and stuff)  compaired to the Velodyne.
It's probably better suited for music.  I sometimes have to boost bass from the receiver

It's like a noisy guy (Velodyne) and a quiet guy (Bose) seated together.

Neat set-up there.   ;D  Just curious though, what are those Bose cubes doing there?  Are they in parallel with your wharfes?  Are your also using the Bose bass module with your Velo?  TIA

When I first started getting really interested in home theaters, the Yamaha RX-V2095 was the amp that I dreamt of.  I recall that it was one of the first 7.1 receivers (with its "presence speakers") that came out that got very, very good reviews.  Congrats!! :)
