Never owned any of the seasons of Friends, even though it's one of my all time favs (after South Park and Drawn Together), so when I go to the States late year, this might be on my wish list.

Warner Home Video has sent over artwork for Friends: The Complete Series Collection which includes all ten seasons of the popular television series. The 40-disc set will be available to own from the 14th November, and should set you back around $299.98. As well as all 236 episodes of the hit show, the collection will include a 60-page commemorative book with Original Pilot Pitch and behind-the-scenes photos with cast and crew. The rest of the material, including all the commentaries, featurettes, and other bonus material, will be the same as on previous releases. Thanks to TVShowsOnDVD.com for the specs.

looking at the pics, wouldnt the cd holder scratch the discs when you slide it in/out

Seems this item somewhat cannibalizes the "Friends - The One with All Ten Seasons (Limited Edition)" product hehehe.

Take your pick. Seems they are trying to recover from the "losses" of the Joey series. $:-\$

I disagree. Adding new material would be the biggest slap on the face to loyal fans of the show who spent good money buying it season after season.

There was a huge backlash against that "new bonus material for those buying the NEW complete series" when they announced such for M*A*S*H. Fans were outraged, and rightly so.

You do have a point sir. But knowing these profit minded corporations, they would milk us for every penny they can get. Capitalizing on the success and popularity of the series, I won't be surprised if they release another set.

Yup. That's the sad truth. I call that "Peter Jackson Syndrome" or "George Lucas Syndrome."

It's very different when you compare doing that to a movie trilogy to doing that to a 10 season tv series of 4 discs each. It hurts a lot more to buy 40 new discs of 200+ episodes you already own for a few new perks.

new boxset has a photobook, unique packaging of the series (discs not divided into seasons), but cd holder looks like it'll scratch the discs. old boxset is just the collection of all 10 seasons but in a very sturdy box.

I kind of like the new packaging better, although I already have the original release. But I think the new release would be more difficult to store among your other DVD's because of its dimensions. But then again, since I dig cool packages, If I didn't already have the first release, I would choose the new one.

Saw this on ebay... is it legit?

Seller claims it to be legit and R1, but it got Chinese(?) characters on the cover.
