bro, it is not really a "direct" substitute as they have different construction and lower gain...however fro some people they use it as a "replacement"...in my case, instead of the 12ax7 for my tube CDP, i'm using sylvania triple mica 5751...thanks!

by the way, i've used also rca blackplates 5751 before...lesser detailed as compared to the sylvania IMHO but has a "blacker" background...this is with my CDP ha, thanks!

may NOS ge5751, sylvania,5751 nec & toshiba 12ax7 tubes sa Spin.
you may wanna check it out

While 5751s and 12ax7s have the same parameters, 5751 has a gain of 70 only compared to the 12ax7's 100. Superman is correct, the 5751 can replace a 12ax7 but may not work the other way around.

yun 5751 pang-giyera sa afghanistan, irag, kuwait, lebanon....yung 12ax7 pang peaceful countries.

kidding aside, the 5751 is a milspec of 12ax7 family with a lower gain as cited by my friend Superman. in some set-up, the 5751 excels than the 12ax7. in short, find out for yourself in your system.

for my CDP, mas bagay ang 5751 vs. the 12ax7...especially the triple micas...

As of yesterday 5:30 pm, only Hitachi and NEC 12ax7's are left at Spin Electronics.

dami pang GE5751 bro. I was there this 3:30pm. I got myself a pair of 5751 Sylvania with Grey Plates and a pair of 12au7 RCA clear top. Each tube is indeed PHP 285.

Grabe, ubos na lahat ng Black Plates. Meron daw isang mama diyan na DIY na namakyaw ng Black Plates. Di ko nalang mention name niya.

btw...may tube manuals sa spin kompleto sila all list substitutes and equivalents. kilala ka naman ni neighbor digna at annie d ba? yung naka-assign sa library ang tutulong din sayo...

hehehe. was just lucky i guess. it's boxed also. In the 2 pairs i got, only 1 pair was matched. There are two kinds of RCA 5751 triple mica black plates according to my research. One is the clip type and the other is the non-clip version. If you read http://www.nickdangerous.com/misc/mghead/joestubelore.htm then you would know the difference.

The 1 pair that I got matched was the RCA 5751 non-clip version. The other pair was only a double mica and a triple mica clip type - both black plates. Kinuha ko na pareho dahil alam ko na meron maliligaw parin diyan na triple mica rca black plate with square getter kahit isang piraso.

kaya pala ang mahal netong Tele 12AX7 na to .... let me describe it as follows : more detailed, more presence, gain in master volume, and did I say detailed again? So would I prefer it over my RCA 5751 triple mica blackplates? Noooooo ! I also like it dark. Thus, I like both.
