Topic: Car equalizer + Multimedia speaker setup

I have an Onkyo 12V car equalizer (6-band) and I'm wondering if I can pair it with my 2.0 Cambridge Soundworks multimedia speaker. I'm not also sure which of the two setups is correct:

DVD player -> equalizer -> Line-in -> 2 speakers

OR

DVD player -> Line-in -> equalizer -> 4 speakers

Currently, I'm using the second option so I can use the Front/Rear knob of the equalizer. I want to know if these could lead to something bad in the long run... Thanks for any advice!

as long as it does not sound distorted and there is no humming sound, I think you will be fine
