proline video cd player
« on: Aug 04, 2006 at 10:12 PM »
maybe someone could help, i had no experience with proline before so when my sony discman finally conked out, i got this cheap proline vcd player and hooked it up on my kenwood's aux input with the intention of playing nothing else but cds on the unit.  it sounded good enough and the only the thing that bothered me was that the cds usually skipped whenever i turned the volume out loud.  found out later that the unit damaged the discs because there was a continuous scratch of sorts at the outer rim of the disc.  it's as if during playback, something was causing the disc to rub along the player's insides.  the result, the disc is playable up until the second to the last track.  the last track never gets to finish because it skips back.  i've sacrificed more than three cds already because i didnt think the player caused it.  is there something i could do to avoid this scratching?  has anybody else experienced the same thing with portable cd players?
