Hi all!

I'm not technically minded so the specs on these two model dont mean sh*t to me! =( I am having a hard time deciding which of these 2 revievers to buy. I know the AVR1803 is not released yet, so should I wait for the AVR1803 or just buy the AVR2802? How much different are the two models?

Please help!
Will

I'd wait 2803 if i were you. You get the same stuff for the same price that 2802 is going to sell for.

1803 does not pump up enough watt for me. The lowest model i'd go is the 3800 series which is 110 watts.

Check this out guys....out comes the hot, new Denon AVR1803 (A/V receiver) ...sighted on display at the Home Theater :)

I think this new model, part of Denon's '03' AVR line, was just released recently along with the new AVR1603.  And its a 6.1 receiver already  ;)

Here's some detailed specs on the new AVR1803:
http://www.customaudioandvideo.com/hmtheater/denon1803.html

I think stocks are just limited ...you may call Mr Sonny Tuazon of the Home Theater for other details/pricing  ;)

Ciao  ;)

another cool feature that 1803 has is a firewire input.. it'll be used in the future for DVD-As and SACDs...  it's able to carry more bandwidth than an optical cable.

Hey greatbop,

I think they carry various ranges of Mission and B&W speakers, plus some other brands, I think JMLabs.

Try to ring the Home Theater and check out whats in store.

Happy hunting!

Heh... yeah.. pareho naman ang presyo sa 1802s.. why not might as well get the new model, diba!? 6.1, dts 96/whatever, firewire input, component switching... all those for the same price as last year's. (well roughly)..

anyway,.. here's what they carry..

Speakers:

BM
Mission
JMLabs
Mirage <~~ W00t canadian brand!

Subs:
BW
Mission
Velodyne

i still can't sleep e.. 3am na.. ganun kasi ako eh. nde na ako nakakatulog after ginising ako..

texted my dad na kung anong tatanong nyan center channels and subs..

i just told him to ask M5cs and center channel nung satellite system ng Mirage (AVS 100) i hink. Velodyne CHT 8/ 10/ 12s,,,

honestly. i haven't heard these speakers before.. I've heard athenas and energy - pero not their brother - mirage. Missions.. shortly listened too them.. and velodyne.. all i know about those... good worth of mouth lang.

ah hell... temporary lang  naman to eh...

let's just hope na yung dependability nung mga receivers hasn't changed kahit na they're now just manufactured in china....

i think yun ang primary reason why they're able to stuff so much new stuff for so little eh...

1803's made in Korea,,,

1603's made in China

5803 is still made in Japan.. but only lotto winners will even consider the product... LoL

anyway... here's what's my dad is gonna end up buying from The Home Theater...

Mission m7c2 for center channels == 9,300
Denon 1803  == 27,500
speaker stand == 2k..

Energy kasi costs twice as much sa manila compared here in Canada eh. And missions acctually costs a tad less dyan kaysa sa canada.

Which i think explains why missions sell alot in there.

Total is around 40K...

Tapos magpapadala nalang ako ng either 10" ng Energy or Paradigm (s10.2 or PDR 10) approx 17k php each. Tapos padalhan ko narin ng a few dvds.. Maybe beauty and the beast and LoTR (2.35:1)... lol

Pan and Scan is teh devil!

greatbop,

I totally agree with you about the 5803.  ;D  Besides, why would anyone with 4K dollars to spend get a receiver instead of separates?  ::)

And yes, Pan & Scam is the devil!

well.. it still is useful for 6.1/ 7.1 setup, diba? and kailangan ng receiver if gagamit ka ng DVD-A/ SACD..

Well, hindi ko naman "kailangan" ng receiver for 6.1/7.1 or DVD-A/SACD.  Pwede pa rin yun kung naka separates ka, diba?  Para sa akin ang advantage lang ng receiver over separates ay mas compact at generally cheaper ang reciever.  Pero if you go towards higher end I don't see any reason to spend 4K on a reciever when you can use the money to buy separates.

Sure they can.  Most pre/pros can do it nowadays.  Multiple digital inputs, fancy DACs, DD-EX, DTS-ES, DPL-II, various proprietary DSP modes, 5.1 analog bypass input (even 7.1 sometimes), high quality preamp section, up to 7.1 preouts, etc.

There are many good manufacturers too.  You can start from Rotel (RSP-1066, for example) and work your way up to the Lexicon MC-12 which, IMHO, is one of the best money can buy.

Check out the Recommended HT Separates thread.  There are quite a few mentioned there.

Speaking of which, do you know how to post a link to another thread?

By the way, I find it fun to read and try to know more about the higher end stuff even if I have no intention to buy them.  I mean, you never know... one day I could win the lottery or something...  ;)
