Damn...mukhang may problema talaga yung Optical 1 ng 1907 ko. Bought a higher quality optical cable and wala pa din sound ang input (PS3) when Optical 1 is used. Pero sa optical 2 and 3 wala problema. 1 thing I noticed din is medyo maluwang yung optical 1. Sa 2 parang may nag l-lock when you place in the optical cable. Sa 1 parang walang lock.

Will most likely bing this to LOTTE WORLD to have it cheked  :-[ :-[ :-[

Unfortunately NO. Tried it a couple of time -- well I actually tried all the codes in the manual. :-[

Finally brought my 1907 to Lotteworld for an inspection on my Optical input. OPT 2 and 3 working just fine and OPT 1 not working at all. Hopefully I get some good news by Tuesday or Wednesday.

I'm still eyeing the Onkyo but can't resist the new Denon new line of AVR. At least now we have more options. Will wait till the spec is released. :)

na-set mo na ba yung max volume nya?

Now I understand what you mean by setting max volume.  Hehehe.  Figured this out already.  Didin't know there was a max volume limiter.  This has taught me how to read manuals.

did it help?  :)

I believe it did help.  Default setting had max volume at -20db.  Was wondering about this when I noticed AVRs that I auditioned recently had max volumes from 0 - +10.  That was when I decided to look for the maximum volume of my AVR sa manual and chanced upon that setting.  -16db is already pretty loud for me so I think this should solve my problems no matter what the source.  (Unless the file/media really has weak volume.)

Finally got my 1907 back. Hooked it up and now I am not getting any sound from the left and right speakers.
Center and SUb is working just fine. Removed and re-plugged the speaker wires on both the AVR and speaker itself. Tried to configure settings on the AVR as well. But still not getting any sounds from the L and R speakers. What could be wrong or what should I do?

did you test the unit before you got it from the service center? better return it to them soon bro. They might default in fixing this defect pag hindi mo dinala agad.

Just wanted to give an update on this...

Let me just to provide a background from my previous posts. I suddenly had problems with my 1907's Optical 1 input. There was no sound coming from that connection so stopped using it. Aside from that, everything was all OK. Optical 2 and 3 were working. Coax working and all RCA input are working. Around 3-4 weeks ago I decided to bring my 1907 to Lotteworld to have the Optical 1 fixed (so I can hook my PS3 again directly and enjoy digital sound).

I left my unit there for 2 weeks and kept calling for updates. Finally I was told that the Optical 1 input will no longer be fixed because of an IC that they didn't have in stock and it is too expensive if I were to have it fixed. So I agreed to just pull it out. I figured I lived without using Optical 1 so will just go ahead and do that. I picked up my unit and hooked up everything. I verified again that Optical 1 wasn't working but this time the Front L & R speaker connectors are not working as well (this wasn't a problem previously). Center speaker connector was working fine. I hooked up the left and right speakers to the center connector on the AVR and there was sound coming out (so it is the connector indeed). So I returned my unit to Lotteworld and explained to them the new problem. We tested it in their shop and they were able to verify the problem.

I just called Lotteworld again this morning and this is what they told me..."Sir, yung problema is yung DSP. Yung analog input nyo corrupted na din, meron na distortion". I re-verified if Optical 1 was fixed and it wasn't...I was expecting that. Then the technician added "Yung mga digital input nyo po corrupted na din dahil sa DSP". So I asked, "Pati Optical 2 adn Coaxial hindi ko na magagamit?". "Hindi na sir, pati yun affected na". I told the tech that that wasn't the case when I sent them the unit and he was saying that it was just a matter of time before the thing broke down and that the analog inputs will be the next one to go.

I am speechless, confused and irritated!!! Mainly because 1) I sent my unit working just fine...given that it had an Optical 1 problem everything else was working fine (Optical 2, Coax and analogs) but I will be getting it in a worst condition than I sent it for repair 2) I don't know if the problem was really with my AVR or they did something that messed it all up. And not they are pulling this "DSP ang problema and its just a matter of time bibigay din yan". Malay ko ba kung sila naka-sira and they are passing the problem to me with the BS excuse. In fact, they messed up my speaker connectors when i first pulled out my unit.

Grrrrrrrr!!!! Not sure what are the next steps to take. I am thinking of getting in touch with the Manager/Owner of Lotteworld to get a better explanation for this unfortunate incident. But I don't like the idea that I will end up getting a big paper weight from them when it was working almost perfectly when I sent it.

Digital input and analog input not working...WTF!!!...what am I supposed to do with an AVR that doesn't have any input/output capability!

If anyone has any idea for next steps I'd appreciate to hear from you.

@jeyps11_c, you should really speak with the manager, and if that doesn't work go up one level higher, until you reach the owner. Since you are getting the receiver in a worse condition, Lotteworld should take responsibility for that.

If they insist that the other inputs (FL/FR speakers, coaxial, etc.) were not working in the first place, then it's going to be tougher for you. They might resort to this tactic - but hopefully not. If you have a receipt of the job order stating that only the optical 1 was not working, this will help your case.

Regardless, you should talk in a professional manner to the supervisor first. If he cannot help you, demand to speak with the next higher person. Usually, there is always someone up the chain who is reasonable. In case you exhaust all possibilities, e.g. even the owner won't listen to you, the next step would probably be to file a complaint with DTI. Or perhaps a lawsuit. You may want to get a lawyer if it gets to this point, but if you feel very strongly about the injustice, then hiring a lawyer is worth it.

Another option is to take the unit to a 3rd party repair center / technician that has a good reputation. Unfortunately, I do not know of any such repair center or technician. Maybe other PDVD members could help out.

I also have a Denon (1610) so I thank you for sharing your experience. It might come in handy in case my unit requires repairs later. Good luck to you.

Wow! This doesn't bode well for Denon owners. Isn't it that they are the authorized service center here in in the Phil?

LOTTEWORLD AUDIO VIDEO SYSTEMS, INC
CET Building Mezzanine Floor,
No.4 Mindanao Avenue,
Barangay Bahay Toro, Project 8,
Quezon City, PHILIPPINES.

TEL: +63-2 929-5334 / 929-9114
FAX: +63-2 929-1343

Nakakatakot na magparepair kung hindi na covered ng warranty yung unit mo. They can always use the same excuse if ever macompound nila yung original problem that was reported. Tsk.tsk.

I hope you'll be able to clear things up with the management bro. Not only for your sake but for the community as well. We have a lot of Denon users here and it would give peace mind for other owners to know that their service center is still reliable.

Need some inputs just in case anyone has any ideas on what I'm doing wrong.

I have an AVR 1709 which I bought from amazon through one of our local importers.  Its connected to a pair of TSi 100 and CS10 as fronts and 9.dfs as surrounds.  Weird thing I noticed is that volume coming from the 1709 seems to be less powerful than my Philips HTIB.  I notice this more when watching TV series in divx/xvid formats in stereo from an NMT usually sending audio signals through a coaxial cable.  Although when watching 5.1 dts mkvs, volume is generally better, it is still lacking and I have a hard time fully hearing the dialog.

I don't think the speakers are too weak since I still do get a lot of oomph from explosion scenes and get ample volume when listening to stereo (2 channel) audio.

To give you an idea, I was watching American Idol and the volume was really weak and it couldn't fill the room even at maximum volume.  Using the same NMT connected to my HTIB, volume is only at 10-15 out of 30 or 40 meaning than with the HTIB I'm only at 33-66 percent.  I also tried connecting the NMT directly to the auxiliary input of the AVR via RCA cables and got similar results.

I haven't done audyssey calibration yet since location is still temporary.  Will this have some kind of effect on the volume?

Hope anyone has some ideas on how to solve this.

Hi Dips15,

I had a similar experience with my Denon 1610. My previous receiver was a Samsung HT-Z220 head unit (upgraded the speakers to A-Audio). In the Z220, I could watch DVD's at absolute volume "25" (50%). With the Denon, I have to crank it up to 0 db (81%) to be satisfied with the loudness. I was surprised and disappointed, because I always thought the amp of a "real" receiver would be far superior to that of a Samsung HTiB.

I have a 4m x 3m room and already ran Audyssey calibration. The sound by the way is a very good improvement over the Samsung, even with the same A-Audio speakers. It's just the relatively lower volume at a given % that surprised me. If I need to set it to 81% volume just to be satisfied in a 4x3 room, then would this thing even have enough juice for a larger area, like a living room?

To alleviate this, I adjusted the "source level" in the INPUT menu from 0 db to +10 db (max is +12). This boosted my volume by 10 db when watching DVD's, and I am now satisfied with a volume setting of -10 db (71%) when watching movies. I can also adjust the speaker channel levels - if I increase each one by the same no. of decibels, then I think the balance set by Audyssey is maintained. This will give me another +10 db headroom, meaning I can set the volume to 61% and be satisfied with the volume. I decided not to adjust this parameter at this time.

All in all, I think it can get just as loud as the Samsung, but not out of the box. We gotta do some tweaking :) Additional info: I set my max volume level to 0 db (when max setting is off, I can crank it up to +18 db). For FM, the sound is louder so I listen happily at -21 db only.

Thanks for the detailed post.  I have a Yamaha 657 and since January, I've been thinking about upgrading to a Denon 2310.

But there was one post on this forum that stopped me:

Hello mga peeps,

Yung Denon DVD-1910 ko 4 months na sa Lotteworld hindi pa narerepair hanggang ngayon. Wala pa raw parts for the Optical Head. Grabe naman. Ang mahal mahal ng product nila tapos ganito quality ng service.  >:(

Now that I've read your post, I've finally decided.  No Denon for me until service improves.

The way I see it, they tried to repair it and since it's an IC microchip, they ended busting it up and are now just denying and rationalizing about the DSP chips being corrupted.

I've had a similar experience before with my new Pioneer(one of the 1st 6.1 releases that was affordable), it's a good thing, the amp was still in warranty, and they admitted to the sensitivity of the chips....BTW....the amp is now decommissioned, after  it became distorted again, I did not even bothered to have it repaired.

Hi Guys,

Can you give me your reviews regarding the performance of Denon 1610 receiver? In terms of movies? Stereo listening? I'm considering this because cheaper compare to other receivers.

TIA!

ganun ba sir? i am scouting for a new receiver w/ the DTS-MA and other audio ek,ek updates and been tempted to get the onkyo 608. currently i am using  a denon 2308 which was bought in HK 2 1/2 years ago. i am very satisfied with it, did not experience any problems until now and never ever think about warranty ;D. although behind lang sa current BD audio fad. now i am worried maybe i replace the denon (made in japan pa naman to na unit) with a not so good receiver that falls within my budget and di ako masaya, gastos na naman ;D

ganun ba sir? i am scouting for a new receiver w/ the DTS-MA and other audio ek,ek updates and been tempted to get the onkyo 608. currently i am using  a denon 2308 which was bought in HK 2 1/2 years ago. i am very satisfied with it, did not experience any problems until now and never ever think about warranty ;D. although behind lang sa current BD audio fad. now i am worried maybe i replace the denon (made in japan pa naman to na unit) with a not so good receiver that falls within my budget and di ako masaya, gastos na naman ;D

Come by the shop and compare the Denon, Onkyo and Hk receivers. :)
