I didn't see any display of Denon receivers during the HIFI Show.  Sino pa ba nagbebenta locally?

Have you bought the Whafedales already?
If you are set in getting the Denon AVR, I suggest listening to other easy to drive speakers like Polk Audio TSx series... ;)
sir louie, meron  ako denon avr1913 90W 8 Ohms at 125W 6 Ohms

Di kaya underpower pag bumili ako ng Polk TRiA7 20-300W 8 ohms 89db

that depends on how loud you listen and if played full range or crossed at a certain frequency.

My trusty 1911 is faulty. Every time I turn on the receiver, it will boot normally but after 5-10 secs it will go to standby mode (red LED blinking on the main power button).

Read the manual, it says it could be due to one of the following:
1. The amp may have overheated - I dont think this is the case, coz I haven't used it when I turned it on. The amp is not even warm yet.
2. Shorted speaker wires - what I did is remove all speakers, even all cablings (HDMI, interconnect), still the same.
3. Unit amplifier has failed, contact Denon - this is what I suspect

Anyone has the same problem before? Although I don't mind bringing my receiver for repair, you guys think its still worth it? Probably if the cost is too expensive, might as well buy a new one. Problem is I have no idea on how much will the repair costs.

Thanks in advance.

Yun na nga sir ang balak ko pero may nangyari. After ko tanggalin sya sa pwesto para i-pack at dalhin sa service center, ni-try ko ulit one last time. Himala she's alive! For 4 hours, hindi sya  nag protection mode. Nakapanood pa ako ulit ng Man of Steel hehehe

Ano kaya nangyari? I'm glad hindi ko pa kelangan magpalit kasi wala pang pambili hehe but come to think of it wala na akong dahilan para mag upgrade  >:D

if the onkyo disappointed you bro, im sure denon wont :)
Mas musical yun denon and opposite sila ng onkyo ng characteristic.  Also mas mataas na modelo denon 1713 vs 313 :)

Well the Denon 1713 DID NOT disappoint. ALMOST Marantz-like sound quality.

Happy guy here.

That's the risk with blind audition. I did it with my sub purchase, fortunately I was not disappointed. At least happy ka na sa Denon :)

may nakapagsabi sakin nun, kung more on musicality ang type mo dalawa lang pagpilian mo DENON or MARANTZ.

kung may budget - MARANTZ
kung di kaya budget ng MARANTZ sa DENON ka.

pero sakin lang ito boss, basta ako masaya ako sa DENON 1713 ko with DALI Zensor speakers

Any reviews of the Denon 1713?

I have it and I'll recommend it.

Its a (very) good entry (or mid) level receiver at its price point at this time.

I came from a Marantz receiver for about 10 years, tried Onkyo for a week. I like the warm and natural sound of Denon, very much like Marantz sonic sound characteristic.

So if you want a more musical receiver paired with a good speaker, then Denon 1713 is a good choice.
Onkyo might win in movie mode, then again you can always control sound settings and preferences to suit your need.

Pros of 1713:
Superb Sound
Six HDMI inputs, including one on the front
Network Capability
USB for Media files and supports Apple and Android Devices - device can serve as Remote control
Airplay

Con:
No component Video Input
No Analog to Digital Video Conversion
Remote Control No Learning Function
No AM Radio
No 4K support

^Thanks! This is looking like a good option for me. May I know what speakers you are using with the Denon? I currently have an Onkyo 494 + Mission M73 combo (+ M7c1). Not too sure if the Mission will be compatible with Denon, might be an excuse to upgrade as well.

Denon user here (2113) and happy with PSB speakers :)

From what I've read, Denon mate well with Dali speakers (daw), I have yet to hear one for myself.

Some say, they mate well din with SVS speakers.

Could not resist - got the Denon 1713 :)

After fiddling around with it the past 3 hours, just a few initial observations: (bear in mind, this is from someone whose previous receiver is a 12 year old Onkyo :) )

1. No more need for optical cable and coax cable for my PS3 and DVD player. Yey!
2. I have no idea what this Audyssey thing is, but after trying it out during the initial set-up, I disabled it. Used my trusty SPL instead. After checking google, looks like I'll have to study it further.

Questions for current owners:

1. Did you guys connect your digibox (Skycable or Cablelink) to the receiver?
a. If I do this, I guess it means the sound from my TV will come out of my speakers?
b. If I turn on the TV and digibox but turn off the receiver, will the sound come from TV's speakers? or will there be no sound at all?

2. Is it normal that the volume level for the PS3 is higher than for a regular DVD player? In my case, it's just
40 if I play a regular DVD, but to get the same volume for  a blu ray disc, I have to set the volume at 60.

3. Are the audio settings peculiar to each user? Or can you guys post your settings for audio? Parang initially, when I used Audyssey, all I could hear were sound effects and barely audible vocals. When I turned off Audyssey and did manual set up, it's a bit better but still not to my satisfaction.

Hope this helps i have denon 1913

1. No more need for optical cable and coax cable for my PS3 and DVD player. Yey! The same with me mostly i use hdmi
2. I have no idea what this Audyssey thing is, but after trying it out during the initial set-up, I disabled it. Used my trusty SPL instead. After checking google, looks like I'll have to study it further. Initially i had the same doubt about audyssey and relied on my ears. But finally i set up audyssey in the middle of the night to minimize unwanted noise. Voila i became satisfied.

Questions for current owners:

1. Did you guys connect your digibox (Skycable or Cablelink) to the receiver? Don't have digibox can't answer this but denon has HDMI "pass through" and Denon AVR will "pass through" HDMI video and audio when the Denon is on Standby
a. If I do this, I guess it means the sound from my TV will come out of my speakers? For HDMI connection yes if the Denon is "ON"
b. If I turn on the TV and digibox but turn off the receiver, will the sound come from TV's speakers? or will there be no sound at all? For HDMI connection No if the denon is unplugged but if its on Standby "Yes"

2. Is it normal that the volume level for the PS3 is higher than for a regular DVD player? In my case, it's just
40 if I play a regular DVD, but to get the same volume for  a blu ray disc, I have to set the volume at 60. Yes, it's differenct which player you are using

3. Are the audio settings peculiar to each user? Or can you guys post your settings for audio? Parang initially, when I used Audyssey, all I could hear were sound effects and barely audible vocals. When I turned off Audyssey and did manual set up, it's a bit better but still not to my satisfaction.
After setting up audyssey, if the center is a bit less. You can add more 2-4 "db" on the settings to increase it

Hope it helps. I found a good read regarding Denon http://batpigworld.com/wp/
