@box1025, this was super helpful. thanks!

All,

Re-tried Audyssey and it sounds much better  :) I just feel that it lacks a bit more bass. This, of course, may be a function of the Denon v. Onkyo (my previous receiver) difference. However, when I looked at the speaker levels, the subwoofer was set to -12dB. Based on my readings, I should change the volume level of the sub to 50% or below. Could this be the reason for the lack of bass?

Additional question:

Does anyone currently own a Denon + Dali or Denon + Boston Acoustics combination? I'd appreciate feedback on how good (or bad) they sound. Thanks!

After 3 tries with Audyssey, my subwoofer trim level is still at -12 dB (other speaker levels are in -5dB to -8dB range).

I already did the 50% volume level, direct input and other recommended settings for the sub. I don't however, use a tripod or microphone stand. Hehe.

I read in one of the FAQs that the subwoofer level should ideally be in the +- 3.5dB range. Can I just set it to that?

Yes you can.. If you find the sub is too low.. Just manually change it to level that you like.... Pati levels ng ibang speakers... Enjoy and congrats with your new amp...

^thanks guys. I'm backreading this thread and realized that some of my questions/concerns about the Audyssey were raised here in 2009-2010 :) Huli man daw at magaling....

btw, found the answer to one of my questions in a 2011 post by streetsmart:

It depends on the sub. The important thing is that after the calibration, check the level of the sub. It should not hit -12 db or +12 db (those are the limits of the Denon receivers).

The usual problem is that the level is set at -12 db, which means that the volume knob is too high. Just lower it a bit and then re-run Audyssey.

I have a denon x4000 which has audyssey multi32. During calibration, the first thing it does is ask you to adjust the subwoofer volume to 50 percent. It will then activate the sub and ask you to adjust the volume knob until it reaches a certain level.

I did this but i still wanted more punch so i had to adjust manually.

And Audyssey MultiEQ XT32 is geared towards better dual sub calibration...

Aside from Denon + Dali and Denon  + Mission, could you please post other speakers which sound good with Denon receivers? I'm trying to expand the list of speakers to audition. Thanks!

I'm DENON(1713) + DALI (Zensor models) user, very good match talaga. be sure to get the Zensor 5 or Zensor 7 FS and Zensor 1 for Surround and the Zensor Vokal(center). di ka magsisisi. ^-^

You should also consider Denon and Goldeanear combo...
For HT, this combo is hard to beat ;)

^stumbled into this post in another thread:

http://www.pinoydvd.com/index.php/topic,173418.60/topicseen.html#quickreply

my contribution, based on personal experience of equipment that i own/owned, not expert review -

Onkyo 603 + Dali Concept 6 (good pairing, but i find the sound too sharp)
Denon 1909 + Dali Concept 6 (much better than with Onkyo, especially after Audyssey setup)
Denon 1909 + A-Audio Genesis FS (best combination for me, the Genesis are much easier to listen to even at higher volumes, great mids and bass extension)

Hope it helps.
