How much is the 1909? I'm planning to upgrade in the next few months and this is one of my options.

I think it's around 30k to 32k.

Thank you sir. I'm choosing between the 1909 and the HK 245. It's almost at the same price range. Although I have yet to audition both :)

Any feedbacks from owners of this:

AVR-3808CI: 7.1 CH/5.1+2 CH A/V Home Theater/MultiMedia Multi-Source/Zone Receiver with Networking

Did a browse over some online reviews/feedbacks. Would appreciate fellow PDVD'ers feedback. TIA.

Excellent receiver. In my experience, its advantages:
1. GUI - can't live without it
2. Audyssey MultEQ XT - ditto
3. Very flexible - you can have 2 sets of side speakers + rears kaya nagiging 9.1
4. Very good DACs - excellent sound
5. Good power amps - for most systems, you don't need external power amps (although of course, it has pre-outs)
6. Extremely flexible as a video/audio hub (a lot of assignable inputs + you can rename the inputs)
7. Can internally decode hi-def audio

It normally retails at $1700 but with a little research and luck, you can get it at less than $1100 in the US. I am not sure what the price is locally.
No room acoustic treatment is like running a Ferrari on ice.

appreciate the feedback sir streetsmart.

this avr is power-packed with so many features. one of my concerns is how user-friendly is it for a first time avr buyer like myself. how useful are some of the features i.e. network connectivity for firmware upgrades, media streaming, etc.?

btw sir streetmart, can i ask what things you don't like about the 3808CI? thanks.

Given its many features, I believe it is user-friendly. However, since it is inherently complicated, magulo pa rin for a first-time AVR buyer. It may take you several weeks before makabisado mo sya.

I haven't done the firmware upgrade. Takot ako kasi if anything goes wrong, you need to send it to Denon. Wala naman ako problem. I don't use the media streaming either -- just use it for HT.

It runs a bit hot so I put a laptop fan on top of it. With that small fan, ok na sya.

the denons and mission are a good match. though if i were you i'd save up and get the 1909 for you to enjoy the new HD audio formats. we can offer you a good deal on the 1909, 2309 and 2809 models. :)

the 3802 models is a very good receiver.  kulang lang yan ng mga new inputs like hdmi as well as won't be able to decode HD audio but it should sound good with the mission mv series. :)

Finally! My brand new Denon 3806 has arrived!! Replacement of my Onkyo 605 sold here 2 months ago. Below are my considerations why I chose this receiver over other Denon's current models & brands despite it has been phased-out already. Hope I made the right decision. ;D

1. Not willing to spend over a thousand dollars for Denon 3809 that can decode lossless audio, I don't mind at all because i'm using a PS3 as BD player. Bought this receiver for USD800.
2.It also features HD connectivity like HDMI (1.1a) 2in/1out, can upconvert video signals, has audyssey multieQT(6 zones), has basically all the features of 3808 except for HD decoding & higher version of HDMI 1.3a but half the price.
3. My impression for higher end models has the capability to "DRIVE HARD" my Wharfes 9series compared to Onkyo 605 w/c sounded a lame duck receiver(sorry) when it was paired with the wharfes.
4. Finally, sana nagamot na yong curiosity ko na mas maganda tumunog mga higher models compared to entry to mid-models..

For now, hindi ko pa na-set up kasi yong banana plug ko ay twin at hindi pasok. Hindi pala pwede yon, you need the individual plugs like the one ToYO1 was selling.

Cheers!!! ;D
