Sirs, may problema ako regarding my 783, some dvd's laging may subtitles kahit na naka-off na sa menu ng dvd and off na rin sa dvd player, pero meron pa rin on some dvds, ayaw mawala ng subtitle.

Pano kaya to., any tips.?

baka mga pdiscs yan na clear copy lang na di talaga nawawala yung subtitles dahil parang recorded sya while the subtiltle is on. so definitely walang paraan para ma-off yun. you can try it on other dvd players or sa pc.

I have to let this out of my system 

I have a NB785 for a little over a year and a couple of weeks ago the player just stopped responding/playing.

The problem started with the LCD display showing garbled text, then after a week, while playing a PDVD (I also play original DVD's in my NB785), the player just stopped playing. So I decided to give it a power boot and but nothing happened, the player turned-on but it just doesn't respond to any button from the remote or the player it self.

I brought the player to Techpoint and after checking they said they found a loose chip (or something) that they have to re-heat. So I got my player back from Techpoint and tested my NB785 and played ok. I got home, played two DVD's consecutively and it seems everything is back to normal.

Last night I was going to watch an original DVD and the same problem happened again, the player stopped playing and did not respond to any buttons on the remote and player.

Know what, when I went to TechPoint, there were about 4 to 5 people there with problems on their Nextbase player. When I went to pickup my NB785 same number of people are at TechPoint because their Nextbase player just died on them.

Damn, I know Nextbase is not a premium brand, but hell, 3000+ Pesos is not easy money these days for an ordinary Pedro like me.

Hell, I'm going to bring my NB785 back to Techpoint this coming Saturday to have them take a second look at it, and I'm going back there because I'm giving in to my wifey's request to have it repaired na lang than to buy a new one (not Nextbase, branded na).

After this second trip to TechPoint, I will not buy any f#cking Nextbase product again in my entire life.

It's 4k. Nextbase also has a slightly bigger model, I think its the nb-658, silver color which goes for 3k.

GOt that model last night from astroplus SM Makati with techpoint sticker and warranty card.  Medyo di lang marunong sumagot iyung nagbebenta. 6 months warranty daw. iyun pala 1 year naman. ogag.

I bought a Nextbase NB-783 roughly around two years ago and it has stopped working since July this year. Its got power on but no next on the LCD screen and the CD tray doesnt pop out.  My Dad had it checked at Techpoint (not sure) but never got fixed. Is there a known issue with this NB-783 model? Anyone experienced the same problem? Any troubleshooting steps to solve the issue? Anyone please advise.

good day pipol!  im a newbie here...  i'm planning to get a Nextbase player very soon... I am thinking of getting the NB785 but friends advised me to get one that has divx capability.... consequently, i am now contemplating of getting either the NB656 or its bigger version (i forgot the model) which is now available at abensons...

has anybody tested the NB656 player?  i've read from previous postings that protable payers are prone to overheating so im also considering of getting its bigger chassis version since im not particular about the chassis size.

will appreciate your inputs...

NB 656 cost Php. 3,900 while its big brother NB 658 cost only Php. 2,900. the only difference are;

NB 656 - can read DviX and MP4
NB 658 - has bigger chassis.

both has Digital RF, Optical, S-Video, 5.1, Component video, Composite video, progressive scan.

Hataw sa performance to I got the NB 658 budget wise, coz I dont need the Dvix and MP4, I only use it exclusively for Audio and HT. here it is in action....

i've got an old model nextbase nb9000-17305.  i had it serviced sa techpoint 2 weeks ago and ngayon ok na sya, nakuha na sya yesterday, friday.

question :  paano po ba malalaman kung anong firmware version ang ginamit nila dito?  para kasing hindi na maayos gumana yung 5.1 outsputs nya.  kapag naka downmix=off walang lumalabas na sound sa center channel.  firmware issue kaya ito?

Got a Nextbase 783 Last August 2005, conked out after only 7 months (and conveniently after the 6 months warranty) :'(.  Brought it for repair at TEchpoint and they're asking P1,500 since the motherboard is supposedly the problem .  How can I fry the motherboard?!?  ... unless it's inherently defective! Add to this, the unit is barely used since its my 3rd player in the house is only sparingly used in the master's bedroom (max. of 3 disks a week).  What is curious is other "newer" models of Nextbase supposedly has a 1 year warranty and the older models (i.e. 783, 785) only has a 6 months warranty --- what is this? They probably know something we don't.   

The bottomline of all these rantings, I bought a Nextbase because its supposedly better than other generic brands (although it's a little more expensive)...and I was proven wrong.  I would have fared better buying a P1600 dvd player  from Makro which at least has a 1 year warranty (which incidentally is almost the price T :Pechpoint is asking for the repair of my crappy Nextbase)!!!

I have the SDV-185-S it has an 8.5" LCD monitor  and incorporated with a wireless audio transmission thru FM frequency, discs are loaded via slot-in mechanism.
This particular model is not choosy with discs, and it was able to read even the ones rejected by my other DVD players, it comes with a cute flat remote, that can easily be misplaced, once you get neglectful during one of your out of town trips, the monitor display seemingly is native progscan, I placed the TV format system in the auto setting since, it projects a good PAL resolution, it comes with a pair of walkman like headphones, which, I seldomly use, since I prefer to use the Philips Bass-boost headphones.
The monitor can also accept inputs, and in fact, an accessory TV tuner is also for sale at 5.3K, other than that I see no reason for any other beneficial accessory input.
The AC-DC adapter,when used would create heat to an area near the rostum, where possibly the power distribution occurs. It also comes with a car power cable (12v), a car and accessories bag, and a battery that will last for 120 mins. max load.
At night if you can postion yourself in a very comfy position with the head slightly tilted to about a 100D propped by pillows, and the lights turned off, it creates a sort of an illusionary feeling that your actually watching from a drive in movie, but of course with a gadget like this chances are you'll be using this more often during one's out of town trips.(Funny thing is that when I went on one of my out of town trips, the hotel that I was billeted into, decided to upgrade my accomodation to one of their suite rooms,wherein a generic DVD player was available, with 24 titles to choose from;on the house, unfortunately, I have watched them all)
My only regret with this model is it's price (you can buy 3 Coby portables),and thus, I couldn't take my unit to the Q for fear of you know what.

If I remember right  >25K (roughly $500)

It's my wife who bought it at Rustan's, it's a lot cheaper nowadays at any major appliance store.

It has no Divx capability, the new batches comes with a free TV tuner, unlike last christmas, you'll have to buy the TV tuner at 5.3K.
