Warner Home Video will release A Scanner Darkly on December 19th. Richard Linklater's trippy adaptation on the Philip K. Dick novel arrives with an anamorphic widescreen transfer and Dolby Digital 5.1 audio. Bonus materials will include an audio commentary with Linklater, producer Tommy Pallotta, Keanu Reeves, Isa Hackett Dick (daughter of Philip K. Dick) and Philip K. Dick historian Jonathan Lethem.

Also look for "One Summer in Austin: The Story of Filming A Scanner Darkly" (documenting story development to principal photography). "The Weight of The Line: Animation Tales" (featuring animator interviews, studio B-roll, pencil tests, production art and step by step examples of the animation process) and trailers. Retail is $27.99.

Will definitely get this! I hope there's a R3 version, though, para cheaper. The release looks barebones kasi.

Also looking forwards to this. I doubt there will be a local DVD release (maybe only VCD)....this was not even shown in local theaters.

I don't think you can consider the R1 "barebones". As per RNIverson's post, it includes a commentary track, 2 making-of features & trailers.

I'm actually wooing some staff of Greenbelt 3 to show this film, since they usually show there movies that can not be considered as box-office hit material (Kinsey, The Producers, Capote, Rent, etc. were all shown there exclusively). Hoping they'll do.

Anyway, this one's also in my must-buy list.

It's not a box-office kind of film. I don't think the general public (at least in the US & the Phils.) is ready to patronize these kinds of adult animation.

I remember the earlier similarly animated Waking Life was also a flop.

Good news! Mr. Hankey has posted in the Warner's November/December R3 DVD Releases thread that this will be released locally in December. As it is coming from Warner, the local price should be good.

Warner releasing this here is indeed great news!  i don't really know what this is about as i haven't read the novel but i have read somewhere that it is a really good movie and not one to be missed.  i am looking forward to this dvd's local release!

na-relaease na po ba to locally? just recently saw this film thru a friend's disc and i am really rarin to buy an original!
